Squidmar Painted 40k Thunderhawk Has Set a Record

Squidmar most expensive model rWe’re pretty sure Squidmar’s Thunderhawk has set a record for the most expensive wargaming miniature ever sold Warhammer 40k or otherwise.

It wasn’t too long ago, this model was really hard to find but thanks to Squidmar, more and more seem to have been popping up as collectors cashed in on this amazing exposure.

While you may have more chances to actually get one now, they are not cheap! The majority have sold right around the $10k mark which is kind of crazy.

MOST EXPENSIVE MODEL feature rSquidmar had his on eBay for a while but the auction is now over and a new owner has probably the most expensive wargaming miniature (Warhammer 40k or otherwise) ever to be sold!

The Metal Thunderhawk

It’s the mid-nineties, you open White Dwarf and this amazing mini is sitting there at the back of a giant Ultramarines force. Then, you realize you can actually order this bad boy, but the hard part? You have to come up with $650…

pewter thunderhawkIf you passed that part of the test and actually get this sent to you, you had to figure out how to build it! With terrible instructions and hundreds of parts, all pewter BTW, it was quite the feat.

But still, people made it through and completed the task!

Original Thunderhawk 2This is the giant force GW painted up for one of their Games Days, and man did the Thunderhawk really top it off!

Original Thunderhawk

Original ThunderhawkJust look at all those metal parts! If this build doesn’t intimidate you, we may have some things that need building from you… Just the shipping on this had to be insane when you consider how much it weighed.

Not counting the super sweet display box with it too!

Squidmar’s Thunderhawk Went for Over 35K!

MOST EXPENSIVE MODELObviously, this is going to be more expensive because he painted it up awesomely and it’s a Squidmar mini. The bids were flying and every time we looked at the auction, it was up thousands!

A similar old metal Thunderhawk just sold for about $8k, obviously, the name and paint job blew this through the roof. You can also check out his video below on why he’s selling it.

Full Unbuilt Kit For Sale

MOST EXPENSIVE MODEL 3This has a buy-it-now price of $10,000 and is obviously a little more expensive than a built kit. If you’re spending this much on a mini, you obviously want to build it, even though it’s insanely hard.

MOST EXPENSIVE MODEL 4The number of this one is 40,274 and if you want to check out the sold listing, you can here.

A Finished Auction

Thnuderhawk gunshipConsidering this one was already built and primed it went for a little less, but still ended up selling for basically $8,000. For one model, this is just crazy.

There is Another…

big and small thunderhawkIf $10k is out of your budget, you can also grab the Epic scale Thunderhawk on eBay too that Rob keeps next to his Resin Forge World MKII version.  You can see just how big these models truly are, even though this is the resin one from 2017 and the Metal Epic scale from the early 1990s.

epic thunderhawkIt’s pretty crazy how expensive some of these can go for. You saw Rob’s above and just how small it is, but these are topping $80 right now! But hey, they are collector items and if people want them, that’s what they’ll cost. You can check this one out here.
