Obviously, we all know him for creating the ole GW, but he has actually also created quite a few other games both analog and digital that you have probably played! His work in the gaming industry has won him many honors as he was recently appointed the Officer of the Order of the British Empire and Skills Champion (reviewing games for the UK).

This is pretty cool to see and hey, now you can finally say the game you play was created by a real knight!

Sir Ian Livingstone, Co-Founder of Games Workshop Gets Knighted

Sir Ian LivingstoneIf you didn’t know GW started off as a mail-order company that ran out of his house! How far they have come. Then, in the ’70s the first Games Workshop store opened and everything started to change. Not only did the store open at this time, but they also started White Dwarf (with Livingstone as the editor) at the same time to advertise the opening and the company.

From there the GW obviously took off at an astronomical rate and they ended up selling the company way back in 1991 for £10 million.  So a pretty good business venture if you ask us. Since then GW has continued to grow but it’s all thanks to Livingstone and his friends for creating something so awesome.

However, he didn’t just sit on his laurels. He made some board games in the beginning before moving on to video games. In 1993 he invested and became a board member of Eidos Interactive which you may have also heard of. When they were taken over in the late 90’s Livingston was the only original member left. From there they made some seriously awesome video games, that we’d bet you have played, the biggest highlights include Tomb Raider and Hitman!

So not only has this man helped bring Warhammer to the world but also some amazing video games we all love as well.  Seems like a great candidate for a knight if you ask us.

Did you know about his involvement in the Tomb Raider and Hitman titles as well as the tabletop?
