This is the complete guide to matched play for the first half of 2023, with revised tournament missions, new and updated secondary objectives for every faction, and a brand-new Detachment that gives players much more flexibility when building their armies.

Here’s the most up-to-date review of the new Chapter Approved 2022 Rules. Click on the gallery above to see the new Battle-forged, Seconadries Objectives, and Missions!
We’ll cover the Arks of Omen Detachment below, but nothing too crazy here.
So you still don’t get the +1 for finishing first, and only half your units can be in reserve.
They are still on the maximum of 100 points (really 90), but if your army is painted, you can score all 100.
Building Arks of Omen Armies
Now, this is a giant change! Instead of doing all the other stuff, you just take basically whatever you want as long as you have an HQ and three of anything else (other than flyers). This is really interesting, and we’ll have to see how it changes games.
It just looks like they are trying to make building armies easier and more open which we are here for!
They are also changing how allies and soup armies work. So, if you want to take a bunch of different units, you must follow this now.
New Objectives
This is a classic objective at this point, so raise those banners high or gather all the data you can!
If you want to run your army forward, this will be the page for you!
If you have all the psykers in your army, this will be for you. Obviously, if you don’t have any psykers and are facing something like T Sons, this will be a great choice for Abhor the Witch.
Gaining Command Points just by killing enemy units is awesome!
Arks of Omen Warhammer 40k Secondary Objectives
As you can see above, when you pick a certain Primary Objective, you can also pick the secondaries from your book. However, each army comes with three generic ones. We’ll check out the army-specific ones below.
New Faction-Specific Secondary Objectives
They’ve had a lot of changes recently to objectives, so hopefully, this helps the win rate.
New Missions For Warhammer 40k Arks of Omen
Just to note here, most of the missions are exactly the same as before; GW just made them easier to read and added mission briefings.
As we said, the majority are the same, with different wording and things moved around.
