2023 Paint Pot Challenge Rules Are Here: Enter Today!

Citadel Paint Pot ChallengeLast year, the Paint Pot Challenge created some miniatures that push the boundaries of what a mini is, and now it’s back for 2023!

If you somehow didn’t see any of the paint pot minis on social media from last year, here’s a quick breakdown.

Morose Miniatures originally made a model out of a pot of Nuln Oil. Everyone loved it so much that they painted their own and eventually turned it into a community event! There were even prizes for the winners! This really took AoS and 40k fans by storm.

Now, the challenge is returning, and there are going to be prizes once again! Let’s check out the new contest and the rules to enter.

The Paint Pot Challenge is Back For 2023

Paint pot Challenge 2023Coming from Morose Miniatures’ Instagram, here are the rules of the new contest:

  • Following the success of the first edition (Thanks again for that), I’m running a season 2.
  • Annnnnd for this year, I decided to change the rules a little bit (Wooh hoo 🙌)
  • So here are the rules:
    * The model must include one or more, paint pots, be creative! Add arms or rocket boosters anything you want!
    * All paint pots with a maximum capacity of 25ml and all brands are NOW allowed ( @citadel_paints , @thearmypainter , @vallejocolors , @akinteractive.official , @scale75 , etc..)
    * You can build one paint pot model or as many as you like to create a scene/diorama, but the main focus must be the paint pot, or pots.
    * The pots themselves cannot be fully painted over, but they can be weathered, as long as you can fully recognize the original label.
    * Everyone is welcome.
  • Only one entry per account.
  • Send pictures of your final entry at « paintpotchallenge@gmail.com » from now up until the 31th of May.
  • Feel free to share your WIP AND your final entry everywhere on #paintpotchallenge2023
  • The prizes will be revealed soon.
  • This year, I have the privilege of being surrounded by incredible sponsors. So I’d like to thanks @sciborminiatures @frontierwargaming @artisopusltd @gobble_inz @templedujeurennes for accompanying me in this adventure and for giving me the chance to offer you such beautiful gifts.

There you have it from them! This is just a really cool community project, and we love to see the crazy miniatures people come up with. If you missed last year, check out some of the cool miniatures from the contest!

Last Year’s Paint Pot Challenge

paintpot challenge 2Taking the number 1 spot and an awesome trophy which we’ll get to later, is @shelveystudio! Just look at the scene they created, a fallen paint warrior, but his fellow fighter will carry on in his name!

paintpot challenge 3Second place went to this disgusting and beautiful pot of Nurgling Green by @grimdark_gravis_guy. The paint seems to have gone a little sour, but what else would you expect from Nurgle?

paintpot challenge 4
In third place, we have this awesome undead warrior rising from a pot of Stirland Battlemire by @drowsycobra. Talk about making a scene!

paintpot challenge 5This one is just about as fun as you can get! A pot filling itself up before battle, getting ready to do battle on the wet palette from @tinker_swede.

Will you be entering the contest this year? Do you have a good paint pot in mind?
