Kill Team: Typhon throws Adeptus Mechanicus against sneaky new Tyranids in a terrain-rich skirmish box with killer missions and co-op rules.

Updated on June 15th, 2025, by Rob Baer with pricing, values, and release date

Things are going from bad to worse on Volkus, and Kill Team: Typhon throws fuel on the fire—in the form of burrowing Raveners and desperate tech-priests backed by lobotomized servitors. This box isn’t playing around. You’ve got brutal melee monsters tunneling across the map and a weirdly coordinated gunline of meat-and-metal drones holding the line.

Add in Tyranid-infested terrain, asymmetric missions, and expanded co-op rules, and you’ve got a skirmish box that’s more than just a new matchup—it’s a whole new way to play. Let’s break down what makes this release worth your paint and plastic glue.

Kill Team: Typhon is a Glorious Mess of Mayhem

Kill Team TyphonAlright, so Volkus is absolutely going through it. The T’au are barging in, Orks are eyeing the Massif Ballistus like it’s a Black Friday special, Chaos cults are throwing their usual tantrums, and through all that, the Imperium’s finest are just trying to reload a massive cannon. Classic 40k energy.

Just when you think the situation can’t get messier—bam—Kill Team: Typhon lands like a Krak grenade to the face. And it’s bringing serious heat with a brand-new matchup between the tech-brained Adeptus Mechanicus and the hive-minded horrors of the Tyranids.

This isn’t just a reskin with new sprues and recycled lore. Kill Team: Typhon is packed with new rules, terrain, and two flavorful squads that couldn’t be more different if they tried.

The new Kill Team Typhon release date is June 28th, 2025, and here’s what you get inside the box.

  • Battleclades Kill Team (existing models, except overseer)
  • Ravener Kill Team (new models)
  • Tyranid Infested Terrain Pieces (new models)
  • 10 Hormagaunts + 1 Ripper Swarm (existing models)
  • Typhon Mission Dossier (80 pages)

Again, this will probably be another limited box set run. Once it’s gone, it’s back to eBay and regret.

Kill Team Typhon Unboxing & Reviews

Kill Team Typhon isn’t just another “hey, look, more plastic” release. This box slaps. Hard. You’re getting two brand-new kill teams that play wildly differently but share one thing in common: they love punishing opponents who make bad decisions.

Admech Kill Team 2

First up, the Battleclade. Ten models—two Tech-Priests, eight servitors—and all of them are ready to counteract your opponent’s dreams. They’re basically a walking game of chess: slow, deliberate, and absolutely brutal if you know how to think two moves ahead.

With their signature noospheric network “Network Counteract” ability, they can swap orders and pull off slick one-action plays mid-turn, making them the kings of defensive play. Just don’t expect them to sprint—movement’s not their thing. But leave a gap in your line, and they’ll make you regret it.

Then you’ve got the Raveners, Kill Team’s first 5-operative squad. These Tyranid tunnelers are fast, mean, and about as subtle as a xenomorph in a kitchen cupboard. Their tunneling network lets them pop up across the board like creepy bug-themed magicians.

They’re amazing for setting up ambushes and bouncing out of danger, but with only a 5+ save, they hit hard but fold fast if caught. Still, for the player who likes mobility, misdirection, and terrifying melee bugs—chef’s kiss.

The best part? You get both teams in one box, and they’re complete. No extra sprues, no expansion rulebooks, no post-launch FOMO (just trying to find the box to buy is hard enough). Just build, paint, and throw down.

Tyranids TerrainAnd it’s not just the operatives stealing the spotlight. The Tyranid-themed terrain is a gorgeously creepy callback to long-lost Forge World pieces—only this time it’s plastic, big, and actually affordable.

Add in six narrative missions, an innovative PvPvE mode (yes, you vs. your opponent vs. Nids gone wild), and new data cards for Tyranid critters… this isn’t a product, it’s a full-blown Kill Team experience.

Bottom line? Typhon is clever, balanced, weirdly generous, and possibly the best Kill Team box yet. Whether you’re in it for the crunchy tactics or the crunchy bugs, this box delivers chaos, flavor, and an excuse to make tunnel puns for weeks.

Why This Box Matters

Tyranids Kill TeamKill Team has had some banger releases lately—Blood and Zeal, Brutal and Cunning, and now Typhon feels like the next natural escalation. It’s not just two new squads. They’re two completely different ways to play. You’ve got elite hunters tunneling through the earth and a creepy tech cult coordinating mindless drones to hold the line.

If you’re tired of mirror-match skirmishes or just want a fresh take on close-quarters combat, this box is worth your attention. It’s fast-paced, asymmetric, and filled with opportunities to outthink your opponent.

Final Thoughts: Should You Pick It Up?
