indomitus box 9th Edition 40k box setThe new 40k Indomitus Box set is on the way, but when is the release date and what will the pricing be? Check out the latest news and rumors for 9th Edition 40k!

We know that 9th Edition is coming with the Indomitus Box Set pitting new Primaris and Necrons against each other. While we wait for official dates to emerge, it looks like GW might be giving some Box Sets away. On top of that, we’ve got an educated guess on the timeframe from when the box will go for pre-order and eventually hit the shelves.

9th Edition’s Indomitus Box: Pricing & Release Date LATEST

Indomitus JudiciarWe know Indomitus is coming. But when and for how much is still a mystery. We’ve got an in-depth break down of when and how we could see the Box Set emerge onto the scene soon.

GW Announces Mystery Box Giveaway

Starting with this mystery box announcement first…

mystery box giveaway

Warhammer Community announced a while back that they’re doing a giveaway and had this to say.

We’re giving away ten Warhammer 40,000 mystery boxes to newsletter subscribers. As the name implies, what’s in them is secret – but trust us when we say that you definitely want to be in the running to win one.

With new artwork of an Assault Primaris, a reworked Necron Warrior, and a new 9th Edition logo, it’s only logical to guess that the mystery box could be the Indomitus Starter after all. With 9th Edition revealed and on the way, there’s no other exciting 40k release at-hand for the mystery box either…at least as far as we can tell.

So let’s look into the details on this giveaway a bit more.

gw giveaway detailsIf you look at the details of the mystery box drawing, they’ve laid out the value of a single mystery box (which one could assume is an Indomitus box) totaling GBP £120.

xe converterNormally, something costing GBP £120 SHOULD cost about $152. However, we know that GW has a strange arbitrary conversion rate, which means that the mystery box (probably Indomitus) actually costs MORE in US Currency.

industrial terrain setUsing a side-by-side comparison of some GW terrain that also costs GBP £120, the same product actually costs $200 in USD.

It Would Make Sense For it to Cost More Than 8th Edition’s Dark Imperium

Back around the start of 8th Edition, we saw Dark Imperium go for $160. But given the fact that GW has raised prices over and over since then, it’s not unreasonable to believe that the new Indomitus starter will cost more as it does contain more models, and an exclusive rulebook as well!

In case you lost track, that’s 61 push-fit miniatures, 1 exclusive launch edition Core Book, the assembly guide and transfer sheet, and the Edge of Silence book with all the rules for your models. We actually packed it so full that we couldn’t fit any dice or tape measures inside.

We have also already heard it may be limited to about 5000 units here in North America, and now we may even have the potential pricing as well.

Indomitus box armiesUltimately, the jury is still out on this “mystery box”. We don’t officially know if it’ll be the Indomitus box, or if it will cost $200, however, it all conveniently seems to line up so far… Now that we’ve talked about the possibility of GW handing out some Indomits boxes, here’s when we could be seeing the Box Set emerge for full release.

RUMORS: 9th Edition 40k Indomitus Box Set Release Date

40KDarkImperiumENG01Using the way GW treated Dark Imperium as the model, here is how it all went down in 2017…

So from what we saw from Dark Imperium, it was announced at the tail end of the month with sprue pics. Given slightly less than a month from that point, we saw the Box Set on the shelves in stores. Not a bad turnaround time for a release that big coupled with a brand new rules system…So where are we now for 9th Edition?

Using The Same Model For Indomitus

Indomitus box 9th edition 40kWe already have reason to suspect this box set is $200 from our recent point covered above, which doesn’t seem too bad from GW value-wise for 60+ all-new models.

Indomitus box armiesSo for Indomitus in 9th Edition, we’re coming up on the cusp of when we should see a pre-order date any time now. Here’s why…

Using the same timeframe, it’s was quite possible that we could see Indomitus pre-orders announced for June 27th, to be delivered and released on July 11th (two weeks from then).

However that turned out to not be the case, and industry insiders have revealed to us that GW’s next managers’ meeting is in early July, and they will be expecting them to paint up the new box set, and roleplay selling it to customers as well around that same time.

So looks like the second set of rumored dates of mid to late July are more realistic now, as GW looks to make sure nothing is left to chance for the roll-out of the first installment of the new edition!

necromunda roadmap updateIt is worth mentioning that we saw GW announce that Necromunda’s House of Blades release would be delayed from Q2 to Q3 due to businesses being shut down. That may be a bad omen for a delayed release of 9th Edition to some. However, the 9th Edition previews haven’t slowed down a bit and it seems that GW doesn’t mind mentioning any delaying hiccups in their business so as far as we can tell, everything is on track.

With all of this covered, when do you think we will see Indomitus hit the shelves? Are you going to be starting a new army with this brand new Edition?
