We’ve just got an early preview of the newest Warband coming to the Warhammer Underworlds series. Let’s take a look at the Thorns of the Briar Queen.
Warhammer Community gave all the Warhammer Underworlds fans out there a heads up this morning on one of the new factions. With all the support for Nighthaunt in AoS 2.0, it’s about time they got their own Warband. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen these models though, as they were a big part of Warhammer Community’s preview at NOVA.
GW Preview: Thorns of the Briar Queen Cards SPOTTED
Jumping right in, let’s take a look at the Warband’s stats
Thorns of the Briar Queen Stats
Something intriguing about the Briar Queen…What is that symbol to the left of her name? What could the number mean?
As a general theme of things, it looks like most of the models hit on swords. It makes sense because they’re ghosts. They shouldn’t have that great of hand-eye coordination mainly because….they’re dead…and see-through. BUT when they do manage to hit you, (especially the Briar Queen) they can really pack a wallop.
There are two models that do three flat damage. That can take out over half of the models in the game altogether.
Another saving grace is that they get a hefty amount of attacks (at least two), and can move through walls. You’ll be able to chase down other models that think they can get away.
Briar Queen’s Cards
There were only a few hard disables in Shadespire, but they were used in any deck that could bring them. Maddening Cackle is a brutal action that can completely cripple one model without having to do any damage to it. Punish your opponent for failing!
Notice a different symbol on the top left of the card? We aren’t sure what the symbol means exactly. But our best guess is that will be the symbol for all Gambit Spells. There will actually a new set of dice introduced to the game where the spell will only go off if you roll the symbol that the Gambit Spell goes with.
This is the Warband’s version of a counterspell. You can deny anyone if they get too close to your leader.
With all these previews underway, don’t forget that this Warband will be available later this week!
Thorns of the Briar Queen look powerful, to say the least. Will you be playing this faction in Nightvault? Are you waiting to see what the Stormcast look like?
