This model is a fantastic sculpt to show off some painting tips that newer painters can practice really well. Get ready to learn some amazing new painting skills with Emil!
This tutorial is a great way to learn a lot of techniques. Wet blending, skin, fur, and even bones are included in just painting one model! First, start with an all-black primer followed by a quick airbrushing (or drybrush) of white.
This will show you all of the areas on the model that will be hit by light from above. Knowing this will also help you determine where all the detailed areas are. Bugman’s Glow is our base for the skin color. Cadian Flesh, Kislev Flesh, and Pale Flesh follow as the skin highlights.
Mix each skin color in a 50/50 mix in your wet palette.
Start from the top and work your way down each detail, especially on the muscles. This is the basis of your highlighting technique. If you are not painting for a painting competition, you can focus on fewer steps.
For the leather parts, you can use a variety of Contrast Paints to speed up your work. This can help you get to playing on the tabletop quicker. There’s a ton more to see in the video, so don’t forget to check it out and all of the other great videos too!
