GW Announces Partnership with Astartes & More!

Astartes Feature rGW just announced a partnership with Astartes and a few other fan filmmakers to produce the next wave of Warhammer animations.

Warhammer Community unveiled all the new filmmakers coming into the GW fold, and they’re all amazing. If you love the awesome Astartes films (why shouldn’t you?) then this is really great news. But it’s not only Syama Pedersen, the mind behind Astartes, that they’ll be working with. They are also teaming up with Legion Studios on The Exodite, with PaxelArt on Primaris: The Last Templar, and with Codex Film on Iron Within.

As you’re reading this they are already developing a new installment of Astartes along with the other projects. On top of that awesomeness, they already have a trailer ready for The Exodite! Let’s get into it.

GW Announces Partnership with Astartes & More!

astartes part 5 wal[I’m] super excited for Astartes to transition to an official project! I never would have thought this would be happening, and I can’t thank the amazing fans enough for their encouragement. It’s been my dream to animate Warhammer 40,000 ever since playing Space Crusade as a kid, and I’m pumped to work with the real deal Warhammer guys at Games Workshop to bring the fans the best Astartes action possible. –Syama Pedersen, Astartes

Not only are they creating new projects, but you can also check out some of the current installments on Warhammer Community here. With the animations team on board, we’re super excited to see what comes next! If you want to hear more from them, check out the YouTube announcement here, or if you want to check out the previous installments, you can here.

The Exodite Trailer

The Exodite is the first trailer they’ve released from the upcoming collabs and it looks sweet! If you like Tau, then this is going to be for you. Let’s hear a little more about it from them:

We haven’t seen much of the T’au in animation before – it’s a very different aesthetic from the gothic warrior-culture of much of the Imperium, but not without its own mysterious quasi-mystic ways. Forget about culture, though; we can’t wait to see that battlesuit’s fusion blaster in action!

Pairing with Other Animators

We at Lost Legion Studios are excited to finally reveal that we’ve been working alongside the Warhammer Animations Team to produce The Exodite! Originally, we were a fan project making content for the community, and to be able to make something official is a dream come true, and we can’t wait to share it with you. – Lost Legion Studios

Judging from the trailer above, this is going to be top-notch.

We are proud to say that we are working with Games Workshop on a short cinematic series about the Black Templars Space Marines. It is an honour for us to work in a universe we love so much, together with its creators. We want to say a huge thank you for this opportunity, Games Workshop. –PaxelArt

Watching the Black Templars in a full cinematic series is going to be amazing and we can’t wait for this one!

As long-time Warhammer fans, we’re very excited to combine our passion for the Warhammer hobby with our experience in CGI. It was a surreal feeling when Games Workshop approached us. It brings a lot of new possibilities, and we can’t wait to deliver this story of Iron Warriors and Drukhari to the community! – Codex Film

A film with the Iron Warriors and Drukhari? Yes please, hopefully, this drops around the same time as the codes to get you even more hyped for the Dark Eldar.

Overall this is just so cool to see and we can’t wait to see them.

Are you excited about the Partnerships? Will you be watching all of them?
