Everyone’s favorite robot is coming for Star Wars Day 2021, as the R2-D2 Lego kit has been confirmed for May 1st- check it out!
With May 4th arriving soon, it was only a matter of time before the big Star Wars reveals would start coming. This was probably one of the worst-kept LEGO secrets out there as it had been spotted in a few other reveals. Still, it’s great to see some high-quality pics and know for sure when it’s hitting shelves!
The date is set for May 1st, but you’ll be able to grab all kinds of stuff other than just R2-D2 for May the 4th. There will be some free gifts, more VP points, and other sets. Just to note, some of the gifts you grab by spending a certain amount, but by buying R2, you’ll have spent enough for both. Let’s get into it.
New LEGO R2-D2 Set Confirmed for Star Wars Day 2021
Well, it looks really sweet! When compared to a person it looks quite large, and the detail is just flowing from every inch of the kit. With 2,315 pieces it is going to be quite a fun challenge. Like with a ton of the bigger kits, this probably won’t be a great build for young kids, but it would be a super fun family project to work on.
Let’s hear from them about some of the specs:
- Authentic features include a retractable mid-leg, rotating head, opening, and extendable front hatches, and adjustable periscope, plus a lightsaber hidden in a compartment in the head.
- Includes a buildable display stand with an information plaque, LEGO® Star Wars™ R2-D2 LEGO droid figure, and a special Lucasfilm 50th anniversary LEGO brick.
- Offering a challenging and rewarding build, this 2,315-piece set makes an awesome birthday present, holiday gift, or surprise treat for any Star Wars™ connoisseur and LEGO® Star Wars lover.
- Measuring over 12.5 in. (31 cm) high, 7.5 in. (20 cm) wide, and 6 in. (15 cm) deep, this collectible, brick-built R2-D2 model makes an impressive centerpiece in a home or workplace.
Since everyone loves R2-D2 more than any other robot (don’t lie and try to come up with something else…) when people come and see this at your house, they will be filled with Star Wars jealousy.
This wasn’t a huge surprise because we actually saw this in the release of the Probe Droid video. But the wait for R2 is almost over!
Close-Ups
The set looks like a ton of fun to build, and who hasn’t wanted to grab a lightsaber from R2? Like we said before though, there’s more than just R2-D2 coming out!
