Wargames Atlantic SpaceNam Alternative Catachans: Unboxing & Build

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic featureWargames Atlantic SpaceNam set makes perfect alternatives for Catachan miniatures; check out the possibilities in our unboxing!

This week we are cracking open the Wargames Atlantic new set to see how they look, plus get some ideas for what all they can be used for. Catachans are so hot right now (well, we’ll see once the results start coming in), and with this set, you can make an affordable army with these great minis!

This is a crossover with Reptilian Overlords, as they had these available as STLs, but getting them in plastic miniature form instead of 3d prints is just really amazing.

Rob will show you everything the models come with, how long they take to build, and how easy the conversions are. That way, you can decide if these boxes are worth your hard-earned hobby dollars.

Wargames Atlantic SpaceNam Alternative Catachans: Unboxing & Build

SpaceNam Wargames AtlanticThe nice thing about this kit is you can do a ton of different builds, save money the more you buy, and even get free shipping to the States for over $50. You get 20 minis for $40, which is insane, as just ten new minis from another company like Games Workshop can run you $50 to $60.

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 2Plus, the more you buy, the more you save!  You can get these down to about $1.25 a mini if you buy enough and get the same quality of miniature as Games Workshop, etc…

Wargames Atlantic site 2Looking at Wargames Atlantic’s site, they have all kinds of cool sci-fi minis but tons of historical stuff. They also sell to tons of stores throughout the world through distributors. You can find all of the stores that carry WGA on their easy-to-use store finder.

Even better, if you want to support your local game store, before you order direct from Wargames Atlantic, check the store finder listings.

SpaceNam Unboxing:

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 3The packaging is also just really cool for these, and really captures the feel of the Reptillian Overlords style.

Sprues

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 4One thing to remember, these miniatures don’t come with bases, but you can get them for super cheap on eBay or our own webstore here. There are five different sprues in each box, with each sprue making four miniatures with plenty of leftover options.

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 5There are a bunch of legs, heads, and weapon options. So, you can really kit your squad out how you need. Overall, just more options than you would usually get, with tons of packs, equipment, and such as well.  There is only one backpack per sprue, however, which is a bummer if you are looking to gear out a squad.

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 6Even from this, you can see just how many different options there are.

Built Minis

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 7Assembly-wise, they go together pretty easily and just look great.

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 8They also have plenty of options for close combat weapons and sergeants.

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 9The special weapons all look great, and they basically have every option you could want (five of each in a box).

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 10A lot of the legs are set up where you could put their feet up on some tactical rocks, as it will obviously make them stronger and better at winning overall…

Size Comparisons

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 11

SpaceNam Wargames Atlantic 12They are pretty perfectly scaled for the new Cadians (which are the same size and scale as the old Forge World Death Korps of Krieg shown) but obviously a bit more muscled!

This will be a very hard box to beat for something with so many more miniatures in a kit (and for less money). Plus, who knows, in the future, we could also see SpaceNam weapon teams and such from Wargames Atlantic and Reptillian Overlords!
