Check out this excellent homebrew list that emerged in a tournament over the weekend that once again shows that sometimes it’s more about the general’s skill than what you play.

The Dice & Bolter GT: Callum Byers – Renegade Knights 6th Place
Callum got a decent placing with Chaos Knights, and as a simpler faction, it’s great to see them still kicking! There is a Magaera for the “big knight,” which is excellent at range and melee, thanks to the siege claw.
The rest are a variety of War Dogs, starting with 2 Executioners for reliable range power, 2 Karnivores for a balance between range and melee, and 5 Stalkers for a volume of shots and some melee viability.
The list then has a separate detachment for one more Karnivore, adding another body with some bonus relics to help out.
