Honestly, what makes this Leagues of Votann army list worth a closer look isn’t just the win. It’s the Iron-master plus two Kahls and a brick of 20 Einhyr Hearthguard that finally got the Kin over the line.

Eirik leaned heavy on durable infantry and Land Fortress fire, and that combo is what kept the list grinding while most Votann armies had been folding against top-tier lists.

Eirik Eirik’s Leagues of Votann army list at the Invasion tournament was the kind of power play that makes you want to reach for your bolter in admiration (or envy). With his win, it’s clear that the Kin didn’t just show up to trade minerals and tech; they came to flex their battle prowess and claim victory with the stoic efficiency. Let’s break down why Eirik’s winning strategy stood out, and why even the most hardened Space Marine chapters should take note.

Eirik Eirik 1

Eirik’s Votann list was led by an Iron-master, who brought handy +1 to Hit rolls and some impressive repair skills. When the Kin head into battle, they don’t just send warriors, they bring engineers who can keep their gear running like a well-oiled plasma cannon. This Iron-master was the hidden MVP, ensuring the heavy weapons were hitting easier and any dings in the armor were quickly patched up.

Backing up this technical genius was a Champion who came ready to brawl with charge re-rolls and mortal wound tricks up their sleeve.

Rounding out the characters were two Kahls who brought lethal hits and Judgement tokens to the party. With these tokens, enemies quickly find themselves under the eye of Votann justice; swift, decisive, and a tad unforgiving. If you ended up on the wrong side of their calculations, your fate was sealed faster than an Ogryn at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

No Votann list worth its salt (or refined ore) skips on durable troops, and Eirik’s list was no exception. Starting with a solid unit of 10 Hearthkyn Warriors, he made sure the frontline was bristling with ranged weaponry. These Warriors may not be flashy, but they’re reliable and pack enough punch to make even Necron Immortals take a cautious step back.

The true stars of the infantry were 6 Thunderkyn; exo-framed heavy weapon specialists who look like they borrowed their gear from a Mechanicus garage sale (and upgraded it). These Kin brought serious firepower, covering the board with enough cannons to make opponents break out in a nervous sweat.

And then there were the Einhyr Hearthguard, 20 of them, because why settle for a few when you can have a pseudo-terminator battalion? These units are the definition of tanky, stomping through the battlefield with the kind of durability that would make a Space Marine Terminator jealous. Flexible and menacing, they’re the perfect response to both hordes and elite units that think they have a chance.

On top of that; he brought in 6 Pioneers to ensure the army could move across the board like a hunting party of well-armed bikers. Pioneers are fast, agile, and armed to the teeth, adding a mobile edge to the otherwise grounded Votann forces. When you see these coming, you know the Kin mean business; and you’d better be ready to move, or get moved.

The real armored might of the list came in the form of 2 Land Fortresses. These behemoths are more than just tanks; they’re rolling fortresses with enough firepower to level a small city block or remind a Chaos Lord why they fear the old grudges of the Kin. Equipped with powerful weapons, these Fortresses could take on anything from hordes to monstrous creatures without batting an eye (if tanks could bat eyes, that is).

And for a little extra tactical mobility, Eirik’s list featured 2 Sagitaurs. These transports played a crucial role in getting units up the field quickly, ensuring the Kin weren’t just sitting back sipping their equivalent of recaf. The Sagitaurs brought the troops where they needed to be and provided extra fire support because who doesn’t want a vehicle that multitasks?

Whether you’re new to the game or a grizzled warlord with more dice than you can count, these Votann, Tyranids, and Ork lists highlight what each brings to the tabletop. The Votann being: precision, power, and a touch of ancient grudge-settling. So, next time you see those iconic exo-frames lining up across from you, take a moment to admire the craftsmanship, and then brace yourself.

These armies show just how much the competitive Warhammer 40k meta keeps shifting. Looking at the winning lists and how their units work together can give you some solid ideas for sharpening your own game plan.
