Games Workshop Quietly Replaced Their Most Memed Product Ever

forge world new thunderhawk pre order wal horGames Workshop’s most memed product ever met an unceremonious end, as the company seemed to want nothing to do with it after all the backlash.

The amount of hate GW took for these heads was a little insane. Do you remember the memes about these? They were everywhere!  Either way, GW seemed to realize the issue with these and quietly replaced them with little fanfare. But we’ll show you where you can still score some…

Games Workshop Quietly Replaced Their Most Memed Forge World Product

Here are some of the memes for this product that were our favorites and perhaps why this product had to disappear quietly in the first place:

Yep, those were all bangers and definitely had the internet in stitches for at least a week.

Space Wolves HH Upgrades 2

Here are the products in all their wolfy glory! These bad boys look to have been quietly removed from the GW webstore in early 2023, not even getting the dignity of being put on Last Chance to Buy.

We’ll show you where you can still score some if you want to stand out from the pack and still be GW-legal for all four of their yearly events in the US!

dumpster wars

So, where did all the already-made heads go? We saw them in a manifest as part of the enormous “dumpster wars” shipment that made it onto the secondary market. They were just one of many GW products that somehow ended up in liquidators’ hands in the spring of 2023.

The good news is that you can still score them from eBay, and you can quite clearly see the wear and tear they took on the journey from Games Workshop’s warehouse into the “liquidator underground.”

We found the listing for these bits on eBay from several sellers, and we noticed some very interesting details. When the listing went live, they had hundreds of them, which lends weight to the rumors that GW liquidated them as fast as possible. Now, one listing has ended, with 152 of them being sold.

The seller even mentioned that the package is worn, which would make sense if it were part of the rumored dumpster wars near the US Games Workshop distribution hub in Memphis, Tennessee.

Items are brand new but the packaging may have visible wear and tear.

Please do not purchase if the package condition is important to you
items are perfect for adding to your collection for displaying.

If the description is any indicator, it seems like you’ll have a hard time getting any of these bits without package damage. But maybe that’s what happens when a product gets panned this badly, and GW wants it to go away! From the looks of it, they have since sold out, but you can find them popping up from time to time.

Regardless, if those heads are just a little too much for your customization purposes, Games Workshop has redesigned new ones:

The New Space Wolves MKVI Heads

Space Wolves MKVI Heads

Warriors of the VI Legion engraved their helmets with ancient runes and icons from their native Fenris, even as the advanced MkVI Corvus-pattern armour was distributed towards the end of the Horus Heresy. This pack of 11 resin heads for MkVI Space Marines gives your troops a subtle Fenrisian flair, and includes an unhelmeted option for your Sergeant in case they want to feel the chill winds of home running through their hair.

These are the new Space Wolves MKVI heads from Forge World, and they seem to have abandoned the doggo design in favor of a much more standard-looking head.

It’s fascinating to see GW redesign these without any fanfare while the old heads have popped up online for sale from liquidators since then.

Here is more on the “GW Dumpster Wars” from the 10:00 mark

Games Workshop’s most memed product met an unceremonious end after facing a lot of backlash from the community. However, if you still want to get your hands on them, you can find them on eBay, albeit with some wear and tear.
