Bases and Modular Movement Trays Warhammer The Old World Base Sizes guide

With the announcement of Warhammer The Old World, Games Workshop has brought back the beloved Fantasy Warhammer setting, but with some significant changes. One of the most noteworthy changes is the introduction of updated base sizes for the game. While this is exciting news for Warhammer hobbyists, it also means that many players will have to rebase their armies.

In this article, we’ll take a look at the new base sizes and share some helpful tips and products to buy for players looking to update their Warhammer the Old World models. If your miniatures were 25mm before, they will mostly go up to 30mm, and most calvary will move to 30 x 60mm. Fortunately, this is the first time we’ve seen a guide from GW on the actual sizes in the game.

Best of all, if you haven’t started updating your bases yet, we also have a list of retailers selling bases and movement trays perfect for Warhammer The Old World. That way, you can get your Fantasy armies ready for battle, FASTER! Click any of the links below to jump to the info you need the most, or just dig in from the beginning.

Why Base Sizes Matter

new-square-bases-warhammer

Base sizes are more than just a plastic square or rectangle; they’re the foundation of your army, influencing gameplay and aesthetics. With the dawn of Warhammer: The Old World, understanding these base sizes is crucial.

Bigger bases mean more stability for your dynamically posed models and a clearer view of those epic back ranks. Plus, they ensure your units align perfectly during those heated battles.

Overview of Old World Base Changes

Gone are the days of squishing your models onto tiny 20mm bases. Now, we’re looking at 25mm for those foot soldiers, giving them more room to breathe and pose. Cavalry and larger units also get a facelift with new dimensions. Why the change, you ask? It’s all about making your models look even more spectacular and ensuring smoother gameplay. This switch might sound daunting, but trust me, it’s a step towards a more visually striking and enjoyable Warhammer experience.
