Combat Patrol Rules, Pricing, Contents
In White Dwarf 504, Games Workshop has gifted us the Na’Pok’s Hunters, a Kroot Combat Patrol for Warhammer 40k. But there’s a catch—unlike most combat patrols, this one doesn’t come in a neat, discounted box. Instead, you’ll be building it yourself, and let’s be honest, you’re in it for the love of the game (and maybe a bit of that tasty Kroot lore).
This new Combat Patrol offers a unique playstyle and a narrative full of tribal survival, brutal hunting, and, of course, heaps of carnivorous action. Let’s break down the key parts of this patrol and what it brings to the table.
Here is a list of what comes in the new Warhammer 40k Kroot Combat Patrol box.
- 1x Kroot Lone-Spear
- 20x Kroot Carnivores
- 1x Krootox Rider
- 6x Krootox Rampagers
Kroot Na’Pok’s Hunters 40k Combat Patrol Contents & Review
Here, we’ll look at how much it will cost you to actually build this Combat Patrol and then break down if you can use the Hunting Pack Army Box to save some cash on it.
Models | Unit Name | Value |
1 | Lone-spear | $58 |
20 | Kroot Carnivores | $116 ($58 for 10) |
6 | Krootox Rampagers | $125 ($62.50 for 3) |
1 | Krootox Rider | $45 |
Kroot Combat Patrol | ||
Total MSRP: | $344 |
Either way you look at it… this is going to be the most expensive Combat Patrol out there! The other boxes all retail for $168, so if you want to play this combat Patrol, you better really also want to use the minis in games of 40k as well because it ain’t going to be cheap.
Building it From the Kroot Hunting Pack
There are some additional models in the Hunting Pack, but considering they aren’t part of the Combat Patrol, we won’t add those. If you already bought the Kroot Hunting Pack, you’ll only need a couple of more units, so let’s break it down.
Kroot Hunting Pack: $220
- 2 Kroot Carnivore Squads $110
- 3 Krootox Rampagers $62.50
- Krootox Rider $45
What Else You Need:
- 3 Krootox Rampagers $62.50
- Kroot Lone-spear: $58
Total Remaining Cost: $120.50
Total Combat Patrol Contents Cost With the Kroot Hunting Pack: $340.50
This will save you a few bucks, but you also get the codex, the data cards, and two more characters. So, technically, it will save you about $160 overall and get you more minis to play with! If you already bought the Kroot Hunting Pack, you won’t at least have to buy quite as much to field this combat Patrol.
How Many Points is it?
So, you’re wondering how many points the Kroot Combat Patrol box racks up, eh? Well, in Warhammer 40k 10th edition, this box hits with about 450-500 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.
One minute, you’re ready to spread the Greater Good, and the next, you’re recalculating your list because the points gods have decided to have some fun.

Kroot Na’Pok’s Hunters Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol Contents & Description
The new Na’Pok’s Hunters Combat Patrol 40k rules and contents from White Dwarf 504 brings a tasty twist. Sure, it’s not served up in the usual bargain box, but the DIY nature of this squad means you get to hand-pick your army of hungry bird-dinosaurs, adding a personal touch to every gruesome hunt. So, whether you’re in it for the lore or the sheer fun of fielding a Krootox-mounted hammer of destruction, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into—metaphorically, of course.
Kroot Lone-Spear: The Solo Predator
Meet your Kroot Lone-Spear. This isn’t just your average Kroot warrior. The Lone-Spear embodies the ultimate loner in the galaxy. Picture a seasoned hunter, scarred from countless battles, whose hunting pack was devoured in some brutal planetary conflict. Now, they roam alone, a master of silent takedowns.
On the tabletop, the Lone-Spear acts as a sneaky, versatile leader—one moment taking down a high-value target, the next lurking in the shadows. Lore-wise, the Lone-Spear represents the Kroot’s fierce individuality and personal glory in battle. They don’t need a posse; they need prey. And it’s that mentality that makes them both terrifying and brilliant on smaller battlefields like Combat Patrols.
Kroot Carnivores: Hungry, Hungry Hunters
A squad of Kroot Carnivores is the meat (pun fully intended) of Na’Pok’s Hunters. These warriors are all about pack tactics, circling prey, and tearing through weaker enemies like a pack of wolves on a hunt. It’s not just brute strength or numbers; Kroot Carnivores are opportunistic scavengers, evolving their own biology from the flesh of their prey. Over time, this means they can become as adaptable as the foes they devour. On the tabletop, Carnivores excel at close-quarters combat and ambush tactics. Sure, they’re not the toughest around, but the thrill is in their ability to outmaneuver opponents with sheer, primal cunning.
Krootox Rider: Heavy Hitter with Hooves
If the Kroot Carnivores are your agile pack hunters, the Krootox Rider is the beast of burden with some serious firepower. Mounted on their trusty Krootox—an evolved, hulking creature that looks like a Kroot crossed with a buffalo and a tank—this unit charges into battle and stomps its way through the enemy’s defenses. The Krootox Rider is slow but devastating, serving as the hammer to your Kroot Carnivores’ scalpel. In terms of lore, Krootox are revered within the tribes for their strength, and the riders that tame them are viewed as fearless warriors. While they may lack the finesse of the Carnivores, Krootox Riders make up for it with their sheer, savage force.
Krootox Rampagers: Tribal Warriors with a Taste for Violence
On the more brutal side, we’ve got Krootox Rampagers. While the Carnivores are hunters, the Rampagers are warriors, bred and trained for combat with the biggest and meanest creatures the galaxy has to offer. Krootox Rampagers specialize in brute force, using their strength and raw aggression to overwhelm any unfortunate foe in their path. They are the result of Kroot packs forced into desperate circumstances—times when they’ve needed to take down prey much larger than themselves to survive. In your patrol, they’ll serve as a key asset when it comes to smashing through more resilient enemy units.
New Na’Pok’s Hunters Kroot Combat Patrol 40k Rules
For enhancements, you’ll have to decide between Feel No Pain (and a sweet free move) and Precision for the bearer and a unit of Carnivores. Either way, both of these are really cool and work perfectly with the theme. Because, let’s be honest, why wouldn’t a hunting pack be able to take out characters?
For secondaries, you can try to get to the battlefield edges or go with the more killy approach and just pick units you want to wipe off the battlefield! Either way, you have plenty of movement and fighting power, so they should be achievable. Clubbing Blows is quite powerful, as getting extra damage is always huge. If you combine Weak Spots with the Hunter’s Eye enhancement, your Kroot Carnivores will be quite formidable in the shooting phase.
Last but not least, the White Dwarf 504 had some updated 40k rules datasheets to play with your Kroot units in Combat Patrol. As usual, they are a little simplified and slightly changed for the smaller-scale games.
Final Thoughts on the Na’Pok’s Hunters 40k Combat Patrol Contents & Rules
So there you have it, Na’Pok’s Hunters—your very own band of meat-loving mercenaries ready to tear through anything that dares stand in their way. This Combat Patrol offers a wild ride filled with brutal tactics and plenty of carnage. It might not save your wallet, but let’s be honest: the satisfaction of watching your Kroot rip through the enemy like they’re at an all-you-can-eat buffet? Priceless.
