Games Workshop Switches Their Space Marine Heroes Minis to Stormcast

Warhammer Heroes Stormcast Series 5Warhammer Hobbyists are getting a divine twist, (different god, same style) to the beloved Warhammer Heroes series! After four runs dominated by Space Marines from the 41st Millennium, Games Workshop is finally giving us seven unique Stormcast Eternals heroes in Series 5.

This blind-box release lands on shelves with an October 26th, 2024 release date and gives the spotlight to Sigmar’s finest. Here’s a closer look at these new heroes and their quest to protect the Mortal Realms from Chaos.

Who Are the Stormcast Eternals?

Warhammer Heroes Stormcast Series 5 2Imagine a hero so determined that even death can’t stop them. Stormcast Eternals are reforged warriors, brought back from mortal lives by Sigmar himself to fight in endless battles across the Mortal Realms. Each is a fierce champion, armored in celestial plate and armed with divine weapons to ward off evil. In Series 5, the Stormcast bring their classic boldness and power to the Warhammer Heroes lineup, introducing fresh character options for fans and gamers alike.

Introducing the Gladitorium Primes

Warhammer Heroes Stormcast Series 5 3These aren’t just any Stormcast warriors—each member of the Gladitorium Primes represents a unique archetype, showcasing the range and versatility that defines the Stormcast forces. First up is Liberator-Prime Zhea Galdara, an icon of resilience who strikes hard and holds her ground, embodying the unbreakable will of her chamber. Vindictor-Prime Printis Verna wields his spear with deadly precision, defending his comrades from a distance, while Vanquisher-Prime Valantin Harvestblade closes in for powerful, sweeping strikes with his blade.

stormcast Series 5 4On the swift side of things, Numara Falconis, a Vigilor-Prime, keeps her eyes sharp, spotting enemies from afar and taking them down with uncanny accuracy. Backing up her efforts is Annihilator-Prime Goltan the Relentless, a hammer-wielding powerhouse ready to crush anything in his path, standing as a bulwark against hordes of foes. Tenya Thrice-Trusted, a Praetor-Prime, watches over the entire band with protective resolve and unshakeable loyalty.

Stormcast Series 5 8At the head of this powerhouse team is Axactus Krane—the rare miniature of the series. Axactus, a powerful Knight-Arcanum, harnesses the arcane energies of Azyr, the Realm of Heavens, to summon and control magical forces beyond mortal understanding. For collectors, finding this mini will be like striking gold!

Blind Boxes and the Thrill of the Chase

StormcastFor those unfamiliar, Warhammer Heroes miniatures are sold in blind boxes, so there’s no telling which character you’ll get until you open one. Each display box contains eight minis, but in a twist, there’s no promise that you’ll get all seven heroes even if you buy an entire box. The suspense of collecting each Gladitorium Prime adds an element of surprise that keeps fans coming back for more.

From Space Marines to Stormcast Eternals: A New Era for Warhammer Heroes

Warhammer Heroes Series 4 modelsAfter four (sort of five) Space Marine-focused series, Warhammer Heroes pivots to the mythic champions of Age of Sigmar, putting the Stormcast Eternals in the spotlight. Space Marines, iconic for their power armor and genetic engineering, have dominated the Warhammer Heroes line until now. But Series 5 steps away from the 41st Millennium and dives into the fantasy realms of Age of Sigmar, introducing fans to the reforged souls of Stormcast Eternals, warriors molded by Sigmar himself to battle Chaos in the Mortal Realms.

This shift isn’t just a visual change; it adds variety to gameplay. Each Stormcast hero in Series 5 comes with Warcry rules, letting fans jump straight into Games Workshop’s skirmish system with these new characters. The recent Series 3 and 4 Space Marine releases—initially exclusive to Warhammer Heroes boxes—expanded their reach when they became available in the Kill Team Starter Set, giving more players access to these models.

While the first and second waves of Space Marine Heroes seem a distant memory now, the Stormcast are stepping into the spotlight for Sigmar!

Easy-to-Build Kits and Warcry Rules

StormcastAll seven models are ETB (Easy-to-Build), so whether you’re new to building or an old hand at it, you’ll find these minis a breeze to assemble. Plus, each character comes with rules for Warcry, Games Workshop’s fast-paced skirmish game. Assemble your Gladitorium Primes and head straight into battle with ready-made stats and powers. Even if Warcry isn’t your game, the heroes make impressive additions to any Stormcast Eternal force or as unique centerpieces in a collection.

A New Chapter For Warhammer Heroes

Stormcast 7With Series 5, Games Workshop isn’t just shaking up Warhammer Heroes—it’s inviting us all to join a whole new saga. From grim, gene-forged Space Marines to celestial Stormcast Eternals, we’re seeing Warhammer’s two biggest universes finally share the collectible spotlight. Series 5’s Gladitorium Primes aren’t just miniatures; they’re a fresh take on heroism in the Mortal Realms, each with a bit of Sigmar’s spark, ready to ward off Chaos.

Whether you’re itching to field these champions in Warcry, build your collection, or just revel in the thrill of unboxing a unique Stormcast hero, Series 5 adds an epic twist to the hunt. So, grab a box, and who knows? You might just end up with Axactus Krane, that rare Knight-Arcanum, staring back at you from under the lid—ready to lead your army or stand proudly on your shelf, as any true hero of Sigmar would.
