1st Place: Jacob Ott, Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard) Army Lists

At the Iowaaagh! Moose-tacular, one Astra Militarum list reminded everyone that the Emperor’s hammer isn’t subtle… It’s loud, tank-shaped, and covered in bayonets.

Leading the charge: Gaunt’s Ghosts, who skulked around doing what they do best, being too deadly and too cheap to ignore. Ursula Creed brought the orders, discipline, and zero patience for heretics. The Cadian Command Squad kept the gears turning, and a Rogal Dorn Commander stood front and center with an expression that said, “I brought all the guns. Don’t waste my time.”

Troop support came from a unit of Cadian Shock Troops and a squad of Death Korps of Krieg. One’s a classic firing line, the other’s trench warfare with extra misery. Both held ground like their lives (and the Emperor’s paperwork) depended on it.

On the move? Three Attilan Rough Riders galloped into flanks and backlines with spears raised and cavalry pride in full display. They don’t last long, but they don’t need to.

Then came the armor.

A Hellhound rolled up with a flamethrower strapped to its chassis, ready to clear infantry with a smile. Three Leman Russ Vanquishers stalked priority targets with tank-busting precision.

Two Rogal Dorn Battle Tanks handled anything that survived that first wave. Two Scout Sentinels kept things flexible, grabbing objectives and occasionally surviving longer than anyone expected.

Final Thoughts on Army Lists

table tournament warhammer 40k players engaged

The action never stopped at the Iowaaagh Moose-tacular. From the cannon-fodder of Astra Militarum delivering loud, tank-shaped arguments, to the resilient plague-bearers of Death Guard proving that decay can indeed be fashionable, and the towering Imperial Knights rolling in like oversized VIPs.

Copy them? Maybe. Learn from them? Definitely.

Either way, it’s proof that even in the middle of balance tweaks and point shifts, smart list-building and clever play still win games.
