The Vostroyan Firstborn Made to Order is back for the first time since 2018, when these classic metals last left the GW webstore.
Games Workshop just announced that the Vostroyan Firstborn, the proud, fur-hatted Astra Militarum regiment that debuted back in 2006 during the Fall of Medusa V campaign, is coming back for a Made to Order (MTO) muster. So, if you’ve been eyeing the originals on eBay and choking on the sticker shock, this is your shot at (current) retail prices.
The lineup brings back most of the original Vostroyan range, including the full Vostroyan Platoon, separate 10-model squads, command boxes, special weapons, and three different heavy weapons teams. And this is the first official rerun since the 2018 holiday Made to Order window, which closed on January 2, 2019.
GW hasn’t dropped a hard date yet, just a “soon” tease on the Warhammer Community announcement, so keep an eye out for the pre-order date, and of course, we’ll post it when it goes live.
- Made to Order return: Vostroyan Firstborn metals are coming back to GW’s webstore for a limited window, no date announced yet.
- Now in the lineup: the full Vostroyan Platoon (Command Squad, 20 guardsmen, three Lascannon Teams), plus separate 10-model squads, command boxes, special-weapon individuals, and heavy weapons teams.
- Still gone since 2018: the previous Made to Order ran Christmas Day 2018 through January 2, 2019, with nothing in between.
- eBay context: painted command squads have hit $264 to $438, lascannon teams sit around $45 to $50, and single OOP sergeants run $25 used.
- Still tabletop legal: these metals can stand in for Cadian Shock Troops and Heavy Weapons Squads in current 40k.
The Vostroyan Platoon Anchors New Made to Order Drop

Just keep in mind, when GW does an MTO order like this, the wait times can be up to 120 days or more While it sounds like a long time, there’s peace of mind knowing what you’re going to pay and the quality of the models on their way.

So keep in mind the starting “floor” going into this announcement.

The Last Vostroyan Made to Order Window Closed In January 2019

That’s about seven and a half years between official availabilities. Meanwhile, the secondary market hardened, a generation of new Guard players never saw these models in person, and people just had to hope GW would issue another MTO.
And who knows, maybe if you’re reading too deeply into this, this is GW setting the stage for their return in 11th Edition. Probably not, but it’s fun to imagine.
Final Thoughts on the Vostroyan Firstborn Made to Order Return

Most reruns happen in dead release windows, not on top of an active campaign book.
Watch for a hard cutoff date soon and a price reveal on launch day. Because if the platoon box matches 2018 retail, eBay listings on painted command squads are going to break in half overnight. And if this works, expect a second wave of older Astra Militarum kits like Steel Legion, Tallarn, and maybe even Mordian Iron Guard to follow on the same Made to Order rails.
