Damien Owen’s 5-0 Orks won the Boise Cup 40k 2026 army lists crown by out-shooting a 79-player field with More Dakka!
An Ork army winning a 79-player GT usually brings to mind a green horde charging across the table. Damien Owen went the other way. His More Dakka! list brought enough guns to run through five rounds without a loss at Boise. Ork armies since 10th dropped have seen their shooting lists getting better, and now another one is the top of a major event.
Thousand Sons and Leagues of Votann also finished behind him, despite both factions being much more obvious picks for a shooting-heavy tournament. Compared with last year’s Boise Cup, the top tables brought even more firepower, and the Orks still came out ahead.

Damien Owen’s More Dakka Orks Shot Their Way to the Top
Orks normally win by calling the WAAAGH! and getting stuck into melee, but Damien’s list shot opponents off the table instead. It looks messy on paper, but every unit has a clear job in this army.
More Dakka! Roster Breakdown
Ghazghkull Thraka leads the army with Makari and a Meganobz bodyguard, giving the list a tough central anchor while the guns come from two Big Mek Dakkarigs, Wazdakka Gutsmek, Flash Gitz, and two Big Meks with Shokk Attack Guns. Two Tankbusta units handle armored targets, while Boss Snikrot waits in reserve for an opening in the backfield.
Zodgrod Wortsnagga leads a large Gretchin unit that screens the army and holds objectives while the gunline works, and finally two Painboys help keep the important units alive.
How More Dakka! Wins the Damage Race
Damien scored 100, 100, 100, 90, and 100. “More Dakka!” gives infantry and walkers Sustained Hits and turns the WAAAGH! into an assault-weapon button, letting the army keep moving without giving up its shooting.
Owen’s Orks also did it against real competition, reaching the same kind of top tables where greenskins have performed well at the Boise Diamond Series. This time, though, guns carried them instead of a melee horde.
Ryan Brown’s Rubricae Phalanx Thousand Sons Also Went Undefeated
Ryan Brown brought a list built for a firepower-heavy event, went 5-0, and still finished second.
Rubricae Phalanx Roster Breakdown
Three full Scarab Occult Terminator units form the army’s core, each led by a Sorcerer in Terminator Armor. The Warlord Sorcerer carries Risen Rubricae, but overall that puts thirty durable Terminators in the center of the table.
A Forgefiend adds long-range firepower, while two Sekhetar Robots bring flamers and melta weapons into the midboard. Then two units of Tzaangor Enlightened and a Tzaangor screen provide faster pieces for grabbing objectives.
How Rubricae Phalanx Wins the Attrition Game
Ryan scored 100, 100, 89, 98, and 100. Since both top players finished 5-0, the standings came down to battle points. His 89-point third round was enough to leave him behind Owen’s Orks, even though he never lost a game.
Levi Libengood’s Hearthguard Covenant Votann Held the Middle for Third
Levi Libengood finished 4-0-1 after a round-three draw, making his Leagues of Votann the only top-three army without a perfect record.
Hearthguard Covenant Roster Breakdown
Two ten-model Einhyr Hearthguard units, each led by a Kahl, form the center of the list, bringing durable bodies and plenty of plasma fire. Uthar the Destined, Buri Aegnirssen, and an Arkanyst Evaluator provide additional character support.
A Hekaton Land Fortress anchors the backfield, Brokhyr Thunderkyn adds anti-tank shooting, and two Hernkyn Pioneer units plus Yaegirs claim ground early. Finally, a Hearthkyn unit provides another screen or does some scoring duties.
How Hearthguard Covenant Wins the Midboard
Levi scored 97, 100, 93, 89, and 97. Priority Assets rewards control of the center, which suits a Hearthguard Covenant list built to occupy the midboard and stay there. A similar plan carried Votann deep into the Colorado Cup earlier this season too!

Shooting was already strong, but Orks out-gunning Thousand Sons and Leagues of Votann is what makes this result worth watching.
“More Dakka!” now has a major event win behind it in 11th, but whether that turns into a string of strong finishes or stays a one-weekend result, Ork players have a good reason to test more guns either way.
