About Rob Baer: Founder, Publisher, & Managing Editor of Spikey Bits, the leading tabletop gaming news website focused on the hobby side of wargaming and miniatures.

Rob also co-founded and is a panelist on the weekly Long War Podcast, which has over 500 episodes and focuses on tabletop miniatures gaming, specializing in Warhammer 40k, and spent six years writing for Bell of Lost Souls.

Every year, he and his co-hosts help host the Long War 40k Doubles Tournament at Adepticon and the Long War 40k Doubles at the Las Vegas Open, both of which attract thousands of players from around the world.

Rob has also won many Warhammer 40k Tournaments over the years, including multiple first-place finishes in Warhammer 40k Grand Tournaments and even winning 1st place at the 2011 Adepticon 40k Team Tournament. He was even featured for his painting in issue #304 of Games Workshop’s White Dwarf Magazine.

With over 30 years of experience in retail and distribution, Rob knows all the products and exactly which ones are the best. As a member of GAMA (Game Manufacturers Association), he advocates for gaming stores and manufacturers in these difficult times. He also advises major hedge funds on stocks like Games Workshop and Asmodee.

He is always looking for the next big thing to feature for the miniatures hobby, helping everyone provide the value consumers want.

While he’s played every edition of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy (since 5th Edition) and has been hobbying on miniatures since the 1980s, Titans of all sizes will always be his favorite! It’s even rumored that his hobby vault rivals the Solemnance Galleries, containing rulebooks filled with lore from editions long past, ancient packs of black-bordered Magic Cards, and models made of both pewter and resin.

Have you ever had that tournament let down feeling? You know what I’m talking about, right? For weeks on end you feverishly paint and play-test your list for the “big event”. Undaunted by sleep deprivation, wife/girlfriend/significant other aggro, you press on just to get your army ready for the big event. Then the day arrives, and […]

Yo, need some Daemons before your Chaoses, dawg?Well they are here. And whether we like it or not (or even if they were meant to be released in this order), the lost wave of plastic Daemons have finally arrived. Much like the unexpected, (but again not unappreciated Space Wolves/ Tyranids release a few months ago) […]

So I just got the new White Dwarf in my hot little hands, read it and cranked out this video for it. The thing that is so special about this White Dwarf is the fact that for the first time (in a long time), there is a supplemental codex in it updating both Daemon books! […]

A long time ago (or so the story goes), I painted up the first Forge World Warhound Titan, and was very proud of it.Just building the model itself took considerable effort on my part, as I had never really dealt with resin before. Plus the sheer scale of the model was quite challenging as well, […]

Checkout the list I’ve been playtesting so far for Sixth Edition.I’ll admit I don’t get to play as much as I used to since, opening up FTW Games and Spikey Bits, but I do try to play at least once a week. Granted I talk about armies and what to play and how to play […]
