From fast battles to faction flavor, the Warhammer 40k Dawn of War Onslaught board game has plenty to offer, including big value in out-of-print miniatures.

Warhammer 40k fans finally have a board game that brings Dawn of War’s frantic pace to the tabletop, and it comes loaded with more than just fast battles.
The Games Workshop Dawn of War: Onslaught board game packs in serious faction flavor, tactical variety, and even a few out-of-print miniatures that players will raise an eyebrow at. For hobbyists who want a game that feels fresh but still ties directly into the lore and model range, this one checks a lot of boxes.
Here’s why this set stands out and why it’s worth your hobby dollars now, before it disappears into the secondhand market.
Dawn of War: Onslaught Board Game Review
Games Workshop sneakily put an image of the new board game in with their Skulls preview video on May 22nd, 2025, and now we have an official release.
The star of the box is definitely a full “Honoured of the Chapter” sprue featuring:
- Primaris Chaplain
- Bladeguard Ancient
- Judiciar
- 3 Bladeguard Veterans
- 3 Eradicators
The Honoured of the Chapter Sprue, which looks the same as above, is just red in the leak.
And they’re all molded in bright red plastic, giving this box its signature Dawn of War look. Normally, the Honored of the Chapter sprue from Indomitus alone runs $168 on GW’s website.
Dawn of War: Onslaught Board Game Review
So, even at the $50 price point at Target, like the Space Marine Adventures sets, it’s going to be a serious deal.
It’s not just minis either. The Warhammer Dawn of War Board Game box is packed with extras: dice, stat cards for Orks, spawn points, red icons that could act like reactors or objectives, and a modular board system that hints at replayability.
Word is the Marine stats are more fleshed out than what we saw in earlier Adventures boxes, so this might play a bit deeper, too.
Final Thoughts From Us: Dawn of War Onslaught Game
This all started as a suspicious, microwave-quality leak, but it actually got its official reveal back on May 22 at Skullz. So while we weren’t crazy to question those blurry photos, the leak also contained the new Chaos Knight kit, which all turned out to be 100% accurate!
We think Dawn of War: Onslaught is easily one of the better value-packed boxes we’ve seen in a while. It is a tidy little intro game with models and rules that’s perfect for casual players or anyone who just wants an excuse to paint some Primaris.
So, skip the scalpers, keep an eye on your local Target, and maybe send Barnes & Noble a polite nudge while you’re at it. This box won’t stay in orbit for long.
Where To Get Your Dawn of War Board Game
The game was initially available at Target stores, and we also have a product link for Barnes and Noble. Of course, eBay doing what eBay does already has it up for double the price, so you’ve got options out there, but the best might be to just wait for it to restock at Target or score it in person at Barnes and Noble.

GW Brings Back Dawn of War Video Game
I know this post is nearly a month old. I’ve been looking around for this game since it was leaked and finally found it at Barnes and Noble this morning. Reserved a copy, did my errands with my son, then went to pick it up. The manager who pulled my order told me she received 4 copies last night, updated inventory this morning and all 4 copies were claimed. Each copy going to a customer each. This store limited it to 1 per customer. An associate at the store is aware of the Ebay scalpers from another customer buying it. And the cheapest I found it for on ebay was $80 plus shipping. I’ve found about 40 listings for it just to see. And some have multiple copies and yet to see any listed selling them. These marines will be done as Fallen once I get through my back log. Until then, they shall remain bright red. $40 for a $150 kit is crazy. Sadly there are no alternate build pieces on the sprue.
