Brutal Box, Gorgeous Codex, Big Shakeups

New box, new bone white knights, new rules—and a few old units kicked to the curb in 10th Edition. Here’s what hit us hardest (in the best way):

  • You’re getting 16 badass minis, including Terminators and a named character. The sprue variety’s wild—tons of heads, weapons, and Deathwing vibes.
  • Codex? Fancy. Gold-trimmed pages, lush artwork, and some solid lore.
  • Three detachments with their own flavor: more wounds, more rerolls, more punch.

Killer Sprues, Clean Builds, and Dark Angels Style

Deathwing Assault Unboxing 3The Deathwing Assault set hits the table with a limited edition codex supplement, Dark Angels, some slick art, a full loadout of datacards, and a mountain of detailed sprues. From the chunky Deathwing Terminators to the new plastic Belial, everything’s crisp, sharp, and ready to build (and ready to be seen by the Watchers in the Dark).

Deathwing Assault Unboxing 2GW’s newer Warhammer 40,000 sprue design (and the Dark Angels upgrade frames) make a big difference here. The models go together cleanly, the Terminators are posable without being fussy, and there’s very little gapping once built.

Belial’s pose is locked in, but it works—and the Deathwing Knights, while a bit light on bits, look incredible once assembled. No wild kitbashing with plasma cannons, power swords, or shoulder pads needed to make them shine.

Deathwing Assault UnboxingIf you’re a Dark Angels player or just want some serious punch in your Space Marine army, this Dark Angels Deathwing Assault box is worth a look. Great sculpts, smooth assembly, and zero regrets.

Battleforce Comparisons

Below, you can see how the Deathwing Assault compares to older Battleforces, like the Space Marines (which featured 20 models) and the Deathwing Assault releases. We initially used $210 as a price point, as the latest army boxes up until its’ release have gone for right around that.

It was also similar to the Vashtorr box released with the Primaris Azrael in 2022. However, when the Deathwing Assault box for sale, it turned out to be $220, which was entirely unexpected.

Box Set Name Price Qty of Minis Value
Deathwing Assault $220 16 $124
SM Spearhead Force $230 20 $100

Is This Worth It?

Belial, Master of the Deathwing Dark Angels 1Yes! Even if the models inside go for a lot less than we predicted, everything in the box is expensive, which gives you a lot of value with this. There is also ‘early’ access to the new miniatures and, of course, the codex! This is worth the pickup if you want to play Deathwing or love Terminators in general.

How Many Points Is This?

Based on the current points, this box is somewhere around 620 points. But, as you know, the tides of the Grimdark universe are ever-shifting, and with the latest points updates, that number could quickly fluctuate.

Well, these are not all the new miniatures, so if you already have a Dark Angels army, why not pick up the rest of them? If you’re starting the army, you’ll need some tanks and dreadnoughts to support your Terminators.

Then, some units to score your points, as Terminators, are fantastic, but they are costly points-wise to do things like Investigate Signals.

Honestly, though, this gives you a good base of really tough Terminators, and you can play around with that. Just be sure to build out enough to keep scoring objectives while still moving the Terminators.

Final Thoughts on Value

how to play deathwing dark angels warhammer 40k rules 1In conclusion, the Deathwing Assault Box Set is your golden ticket to the elite side of the Dark Angels. With an impressive lineup of miniatures and some serious savings, it’s a no-brainer for anyone looking to bolster their army or simply add some sweet new models to their collection.

Plus, who wouldn’t want to command the likes of Grand Master Belial while surrounded by legendary Deathwing Knights? It’s like assembling a dream team of space-faring superheroes, but with a lot more skulls and a lot less sunlight.
