Free Warhammer Mini of the Month: What it is & How to Claim Yours

miniature of the month warhammer games workshop stores

Games Workshop hands out a free Warhammer mini every month, but there’s usually a catch. Here’s this month’s model, coin, and exactly how to claim yours.

Every month, Games Workshop gives away a free miniature at its stores with no purchase required. Getting the model is usually straightforward: show up, ask the staff, and grab one while stocks last.

The collectible coin sitting beside it is a different story, though, since GW keeps adding more requirements to qualify for one. There were even recent rumors that the free Warhammer miniature of the month promo was going away, and it looks like they were half right.

Now GW says a new offer is coming in October and that September is the “last of the traditional free miniatures”, and that hobbyists can either wait for more information or ask their local store manager about it.

What’s the Free Mini of the Month Right Now?

Updated on August 31st, 2026, by Rob Baer with the latest Free Miniature of the Month.

ARTICLE SUMMARY:
  • This month’s free mini: Space Marine Scout, a reconnaissance trooper for your Space Marines army.
  • Collectible coin: an Ogor Mawtribes coin marking the launch of the new revamped line of Ogors.
  • Available from: Saturday, September 5, 2026, while stocks last
  • The catch: The program is changing in October, with more details to come.

How to Actually Claim Your Free Mini

Free Warhammer Space Marine Scout Mini

Honestly, this part hasn’t changed in years. Walk into a participating Warhammer store on the release date (GW moves it around now, so it’s not always the first Saturday), ask a staff member for the mini of the month, and it’s yours while stocks last.

No receipt, subscription, or Warhammer+ login required, but customers in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and the UK build theirs in-store with staff help.

The coin is the part with strings attached, and those strings change month to month, so check the box above before you make the trip.

The Collectible Coin Marks the Ogors Finally Getting a Revamp

September Ogor Mawtribes CoinSeptember’s coin celebrates the long-awaited rework of the Ogor Mawtribes, with tons of new minis, classics being redone, and a new battletome. It’s only available while stocks last, so anyone interested in the Ogors or their new minis should ask about it early.

Pick ‘n’ Mix Paints Stack on the Same Trip

Citadel Pick n Mix paints in-store offer 10 paints

GW is also running the in-store Pick ‘n’ Mix paint deal alongside the Mini of the Month, which is a nice little value for players grabbing a bunch of paints. Buy any 10 Citadel paints in-store, and the most expensive pot in the batch is free.

Bring a Friend, Stack the Freebies

Since you’re already heading to the counter for the mini, the Bring-a-Friend program can also help you get your friends into the hobby. Your new hobbyist guest will get their choice of a free Space Marine or Stormcast Eternals Liberator, plus a painting tutorial for the model and a learn-to-play session for either 40k or AoS.

That’s three free items or activities on deck for just showing up with someone who hasn’t already been pulled into the hobby. So, if you’ve got a friend who has been thinking about the hobby since 11th Edition landed, that’s a pretty solid first-session pitch without asking them to buy in on day one.

Free Warhammer Mini of the Month: FAQs

How do you get the free Warhammer Mini of the Month?

Walk into a participating Warhammer store on the release date, ask a staff member for the mini of the month, and it’s yours while stocks last. No purchase, no subscription, no receipt. Honestly, the hardest part is just remembering to go before they run out.

Is the Warhammer Mini of the Month actually free?

Yes, the miniature itself is genuinely free, no strings on that one. The catch is the collectible coin that runs alongside it, which usually asks you to spend in-store or clear a few extra requirements. So the mini’s free. The coin is where GW gets you.

What day does the new mini of the month come out?

It used to land on the first Saturday of every month, but GW now moves the date around, so it changes month to month (August 2026’s, for example, drops on the 13th). We list the current release date in the box up top, so check there before you make the trip.

Do you need Warhammer+ to get the free mini?

Nope. The store Mini of the Month and Warhammer+ are two different things. The monthly store mini is free to anyone who walks in and asks, while the Warhammer+ mini is a separate reward you only get after staying subscribed for 12 straight months. Don’t mix them up at the counter.

What’s the catch with the collectible coin?

The coin isn’t a walk-in freebie like the mini. Depending on the month, GW might ask you to spend a set amount in-store, bring the previous month’s coin, or submit a campaign result before staff hand it over. If you ask us, the hoops keep stacking, so read the current month’s requirements before you count on getting one.

What is this month’s free Warhammer mini?

We track the current mini, coin, and release date in the box near the top of this page, and we update it the day GW reveals each one. Bookmark it and check back on the first, so you always know what’s waiting at the store.

Final Thoughts on Warhammer’s Free Mini of the Month

Free Warhammer miniature of the month May 2026 Leagues of Votann Yaegir

A free miniature every month is still one of the better deals GW offers, and all it costs is a trip to the store. We’re definitely not complaining about free plastic.

The coins are another story. What started as a $100 minimum purchase now comes with a growing checklist: spend more, submit campaign results, or bring back last month’s token.

We’ll be watching whether those coin requirements keep growing or whether enough pushback brings the promotion back to a proper giveaway. The miniature should stay free and easy to claim, and we’ll keep this page updated whenever a new one drops so you know what’s waiting at the counter and what the coin will actually cost.

Check back around the first of every month for the newest free mini promo.
