Look we all know how scary a giant group of blood-crazed warriors screaming down your neck can be. Somehow the Khorne Blood Warriors take that to a whole new level! Get out your favorite helm and let’s learn about some lore.
In the World
Khorne, the Blood God, has many followers. Every one of them will throw themselves in battle and bloodshed with reckless abandon. All to prove themselves worthy to Khorne and to receive his blessings. Those who spill enough blood for the Blood God and collect enough skulls for the skull throne in battle will be chosen by a very pleased Khorne. That warrior will then turn into one of the Blood Warriors. Unwavering devotees to Khorne and slaughter. Forever destined to be a rage-filled berserker. They rush into battle with all manner of large axes, their blood-red and brass armor crushing into enemy lines.
A lot of different mortals are chosen to become Blood Warriors. All thanks to Khorne’s so-called Red Baptism, his blessings upon anyone deemed worthy in the Mortal Realms. Whether they be a blood-covered devotee of Khorne, a noble battle-scarred knight, or even a sworn enemy of Khorne. Each are equally worthy of the favour of the blood god. As long as they spill enough blood, crack enough bones and cause enough carnage. Khorne will deem them worthy and transform them into his Blood Warriors with a ton of myths around them. Some say their armour is made from the coagulated blood of their kills, others say that their brass armour bleeds whenever struck as if it was flesh. For all we know, both are true.
In battle, the Blood Warriors are gripped by a blood-red rage with a lust for blood and battle. Rushing into battle screaming their prayers to Khorne and flailing their axes. This intense need for slaughter can’t be satisfied until a foe has been cleaved in half by their heavy axe. Yet even then they’re still not pleased, they want more slaughter, more death, more blood. This insatiable lust is so powerful it even keeps the Blood Warriors from dying when they should. Even when pierced by arrows or cut to ribbons by halberds, they will fight and trash until their life finally expires.
On the Field
On the Tabletop of the Mortal Realms, Blood Warriors are a perfect Battleline unit to take and hold objectives and screen troops. They often go to battle in units of 10 or more models. Their armour, weapons and abilities make them perfect for holding the enemy in place and stopping them from taking objectives. Being 100 pts per 5 models does make them more expensive than both Blood Reavers and standard Chaos Warriors. But they make up for it in durability.
Blood Warriors are armed with either two Goreaxes or a Goreaxe and Gorefist. The mighty Goreaxe is a 2 Attack but 1 Damage weapon, so equipping two of these gives a single Blood Warrior the chance to do 4 Damage. Worthy of felling any foe in the name of Khorne. The Gorefist on the other hand acts as a powerful counter-attack. An unmodified save roll of 6 makes the Blood Warrior with a Gorefist punch the enemy back into place, dealing a Mortal Wound. Lastly 1 in every 10 Blood Warriors can wield a Goreglaive, a mighty two-handed weapon. Dealing a -1 Rend and 2 Damage.
A pack of Blood Warriors is led by a powerful Chaos Champion. Wielding his Goreaxes like extensions of his blood lust, he gets an extra attack with his. 1 in 10 Blood Warriors can be the Icon Bearer, reminding his comrades of the power of Khorne and adding 1 to their bravery. One of the most powerful abilities the Blood Warriors posses is No Respite. When a model is slain in combat he makes one last pile-in and attacks with all his melee weapons before finally dying.
The Blood Warriors will surely bathe in the gore of your foes.
