The Big Win: Death Riders in Plastic
Let’s take a moment to appreciate the plastic Death Riders. No more resin legs snapping off or bending bayonets. These new Krieg models are sturdy, well-posed, and actually fun to build. Lascarbines, trench claws, and that signature “I’ve seen things” expression make them a highlight of the launch.
These aren’t just pretty cavalry units either. On the table, they’re built to punch through enemy lines and look great doing it. They add mobility and brutality in one scary little package.
Artillery and Engineers Bring the Boom
The artillery team is a love letter to big-gun fans. Mortars, rockets, and all the indirect fire options you can shake a bayonet at. Great for anchoring a flank or just making your opponent nervous.
The Krieg combat engineers are the real sneaky MVPs. Shotguns, flamers, and augur mines that practically scream sabotage. Perfect for aggressive forward play or just denying your opponent any sense of safety.
Lord Marshal Varnan Dreir Means Business
Leading the charge is Lord Marshal Dreir. He rides into battle like he owns the battlefield, swinging the Sabre of Sacrifice and refusing to stay dead thanks to his unique rules. If you wanted a centerpiece for your 40k Death Korps of Krieg army, this is it.
New Releases Outside the Box
If you needed to buff up your forces more, wave two brought some great options:
- Command Squad: Veteran officers, commissar, banner, servo-skull.
- Heavy Weapons Squad: Autocannons, mortars, lascannons, heavy flamers; you name it. The Krieg 40k models here are built to support your infantry blocks in style.
These weren’t in the Krieg army set, so grab them if you want to round out your force. They’re vital pieces for any full-size Krieg miniatures collection.
Combat Patrol: Draeden’s Lance Hits Hard
Draeden’s Lance brings the heat for anyone building out a fast, mean Astra Militarum list (and non-Death Korps of Krieg figures). It includes:
- Command Squad
- 10 Attilan Rough Riders
- 10 Kasrkin
- New Astra Militarum Codex (168 pages of rules, lore, and more Krieg than you can handle)
New Astra Miliatrum Codex
To top it off, this set premieres the Codex: Astra Militarum, a 168-page masterpiece packed with lore and rules to crush your enemies in Warhammer 40,000.

Are the Knockoffs Worth It?
Short answer: kinda. Third-party death korps of krieg models still exist, and some are decent. The detail is passable, the casts are alright, and they paint up okay. But they’re smaller than GW’s new krieg models, so expect some scale issues.
If you’re doing a whole army on a budget, they’ll work. Just don’t mix them with the new Warhammer 40k Death Korps of Krieg models unless you want your troops to look like they skipped leg day.
Painting the Death Korps: Trench Coats and Gas Masks
Painting Warhammer Krieg models is a blast. Those long coats, layered armor, and WWI vibes are a dream for hobbyists. We have tutorials on painting Death Riders and infantry to help you get the most out of your Krieg miniatures. Whether you’re going classic grey or experimenting with a Martian dust scheme, there’s a lot of texture to work with.
Final Thoughts on the New Krieg 2025 Range
This is the biggest update to Death Korps of Krieg miniatures since the Forge World days. We’re talking full conversion to plastic, better pricing, better sculpts, and easier assembly. The Warhammer 40k Krieg models look incredible, play strong, and finally give fans the army they’ve been waiting for.
New Krieg 40k kits are here to stay, and this isn’t a side project. This is a full send from GW, and it’s about time.
