Wondering if the Red Corsairs Combat Patrol is a good buy? We cover contents, release date, pricing, rules, and savings in one simple guide.
If you’ve been eyeing a Red Corsairs starter force but missed the launch box (or just want to beef up your 40k tabletop army), and it doesn’t torch your hobby budget in the process, this Combat Patrol might be the play.
Just to note: This is not the main Chaos Space Marines Combat Patrol. This is most likely going to be an available while supplies last type of release (just like the recent Space Marine CPs), but we’ll know for sure when the official pre-order shows up.
We break down the release date, what comes in the box, what the pricing looks like compared to buying everything separately, and who this box actually makes sense for.

Is the Red Corsairs Combat Patrol Worth It?

The real extra sauce is the Fellgor doing double duty as a Kill Team, even if they are pretty rough in the current Kill Team and 40k meta, so the value depends on whether you actually want that second game mode on the side, or feel like running them in 40k.
We also expect they will come out with actual Red Corsairs Combat Patrol rules as well to play with, so plenty of flexibility.
What Can You Play Out of the Box? (Combat Patrol Rules vs 40k Points)
The Red Corsairs Combat Patrol points are looking like roughly 350-ish points, depending on the latest points updates. Fortunetly Combat Patrol has its own format, so points aren’t the only reason to buy.
What to Buy After the Combat Patrol

From there, grab a real hammer unit (maybe Huron and his bodyguard) that hits harder than the Raiders, so the mid-board brawl ends on your terms, plus a cheap backfield scorer so you are not wasting your best bodies babysitting home.
If you want the Fellgor to keep pulling double duty, add the Kill Team bits you actually need for that mode; otherwise, treat them as disposable board-jammers or cultist proxies, and spend your hobby budget on more Red Corsairs bodies and mobility.
Final Thoughts on the New Red Corsairs Combat Patrol Box

The savings are decent at $62.50, not insane, but the Fellgor pulling double duty as a Kill Team adds a little extra value even if they’re not exactly terrorizing that meta right now.
If you want a limited-run offshoot Combat Patrol that plays straightforward, hits the table with a plan, and actually feels like Red Corsairs, this one does the job.
