The new Warhammer 40k battleforce boxes rumors for 2025 point towards Tyranids, Chaos Marines, T’au, Space Marines, and more are set to drop soon!
Updated September 19th, 2025, by Rob Baer with new Battleforce box rumors
It’s that magical time of year when the Warhammer rumor mill churns out whispers of Games Workshop’s big 40k Christmas boxes and, to a lesser degree, a few for Age of Sigmar.
If history is anything to go by, these new battleforce boxes for 40k are loaded with value. So, what’s lurking under the hobby tree this year? Let’s talk Tyranids, Chaos Space Marine battleforces, and more!
Tyranids Christmas Battleforce:
Rumor has it that the Tyranid Christmas box is going big. Literally, word on the street says we’re getting a monster-heavy swarm set that leans into the faction’s love of bio-engineered nightmares. Think towering beasts leading smaller gribblies in a way that makes you want to hiss “feed me” at your opponent.
Chaos Space Marines Christmas Battleforce:
Nothing says “holiday cheer” like heresy, and the rumored Chaos Space Marine battleforce is sounding like a brutal stocking stuffer. Reports suggest Obliterators are back on the menu, joined by a Venomcrawler, Havoc Squad, Rhino, and Legionnaires (maybe a couple of Venomcrawlers and Obliterators boxes).
T’au Empire Christmas Battleforce:
The rumor mill points toward a Tau box themed around Commander Farsight, perhaps similar to the Retaliation Cadre one from years past.
With his shiny new model making waves a couple of years ago, it only makes sense to spotlight the renegade hero in a Christmas bundle, especially considering it seems Tau gets one most years (but not 2023).
40k Space Marines Christmas Battleforce:
Space Marines never miss the holiday party, and this year’s whispers are particularly spicy. Talk of a Terminator-themed box refuses to die, and the contents sound stacked. Supposedly, the set includes:
- A 10-man Assault Terminator squad
- A standard 5-man Terminator squad
- A Captain in Terminator armor
- A Chaplain in Terminator armor
- A brand-new Ancient in Terminator armor
Now here’s where it gets interesting: Games Workshop almost never debuts new models in a Christmas battleforce. That means if the Assault Terminators and Ancient are indeed part of this box, they’ll likely see a standalone release beforehand (or this box earlier and a Christmas box, possibly).
2024’s Dark Angels Inner Circle Task Force was the hot box. Will it be Space Marines again this year, taking the #1 spot?
Will We See Emperor’s Children?
There’s one more juicy bit of speculation: Emperor’s Children. Looking at past releases, we’ve had Angron for World Eaters, Mortarion for Death Guard, and Magnus for Thousand Sons. Fulgrim’s absence is starting to feel like the noise marine in the room.
Other Possibilities:
- Necrons 40k battleforce: The galaxy’s favorite robo-skeletons could be lining up for another Eradication-style box, packed with Warriors, Destroyers, and whatever flavor of Cryptek GW feels like dusting off. Or maybe they’re content to hit snooze on their stasis alarms and let the living fight it out for now.
- Astra Militarum: Guard players are always hungry for more plastic. A box with tanks rolling alongside Kasrkin and a new command unit feels about right. Whether it’s Leman Russ spam or something shinier, you can bet they’ll bring enough bodies and armor to clog a battlefield.
- Imperial or Chaos Knights Battleforces: also a possbility, but a long shot at this point.
Final Thoughts From Us: 40k Christmas Boxes Pre-Orders
If the rumors prove true, we’re looking at a solid lineup: Tyranids, Chaos Space Marines, T’au, Space Marines, and maybe even Emperor’s Children and thensome. That’s a mix of swarm armies, power armor classics, and alien tech all wrapped up in the usual shiny packaging for just a little bit more than your normal Combat Patrol.
Just remember, these Christmas Boxes are almost always heavily allocated. If you see a box you like, get ready to buy quickly! New players get easy access to cohesive forces, and veteran collectors get extra kits without the usual price sting.
