Games Workshop has just revealed their next lineup of new releases for Horus Heresy and The Old World, all available for pre-order this week. From new models to jumpstart a Mechanicum army to brand new rules and wave one of the models for Warriors of Chaos, this is a great week for hobbyists! Here are all the details for these latest new releases, which will be available to pre-order with your favorite retailers on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, around 1 p.m. EST in the States.
Warhammer Horus Heresy Pre-Orders
New pre-orders are here for The Horus Heresy, bringing a tidal wave of excitement for all 30k players out there! Whether you’re a veteran from the old Forge World days or a newcomer looking to plunge into the rich lore and epic battles for the first time, these pre-orders offer new products that will transport you right into the heart of the Horus Heresy.
Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Martian Civil War
During the Horus Heresy, a significant portion of Mars declared independence from Imperial rule, and the ceaseless production of machines and weapons from its factories posed an increasing threat to the throneworld as the Warmaster advanced. Loyalist forces made repeated efforts to seize control of the planet, amidst internal conflicts among the Tech-priests. These events form the backdrop for the upcoming supplement for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, titled Campaigns of The Age of Darkness: The Martian Civil War.
This 168-page hardback book provides extensive background information on the conflict and includes rules for simulating it on the tabletop. It introduces new core missions, apex missions, relic hunt missions, an Onslaught campaign, additional units, and Techno-heresy rules, allowing players to determine the fate of the Red Planet. Additionally, it features content from previously published Exemplary Battles in the Age of Darkness. The supplement will be available for pre-order in hardback and ePub formats starting next week.
Archmagos Prime
The Archmagos Prime serves as the leader of the Taghmata Omnissiah and holds a prominent position within the Machine Cult, having undergone extensive cybernetic enhancements. Possessing unmatched intelligence and mastery of Techno-arcana, they guide the Mechanicum in pursuit of the enigmatic goals of the Machine Cult.
Thallax Cohort
The Thallax Cohort serves as the versatile core of most Mechanicum forces. These cyborgs are capable of independent thought, making them well-suited for shock troop operations. Their armored frames and incunabulan jetpacks allow them to deliver swift and powerful strikes while enduring enemy counterattacks.
Each box contains the necessary components to assemble six Thallax, all armed with lightning guns. Additionally, options are available to equip two of them with phased plasma-fusils, photon thrusters, or multi-meltas. The box also includes sufficient melta bombs for each miniature, a variety of head designs, and a transfer sheet.
Castellax Battle-automata ManipleÂ
The Castellax Battle-automata are formidable war machines, towering over humans and armored with durable atomantic shields. This maniple box includes two Castellax, which can be equipped with shock chargers or power blade arrays, along with in-built bolters or flamers. These machines can also carry mauler bolt cannons and come with a darkfire cannon and a multi-melta for specialized loadouts.
Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata
The Thanatar Cavas Siege-automata is one of the large automata used by the Mechanicum, specifically designed to function as mobile artillery units. They have a robust structure that can withstand incoming attacks and are equipped with a Hellex pattern plasma mortar, which is a powerful weapon capable of launching superheated energy spheres at enemy forces. Additionally, each Thanatar is outfitted with shock chargers and a twin-linked mauler bolt cannon. The model kit also includes a Mechanicum Macro-constructs transfer sheet.
Tech-thralls Covenant
The Tech-priests of the Mechanicum rely on a large pool of expendable labor to carry out their industrial operations. They have developed a process that involves manipulating and overriding consciousness to create loyal Tech-thralls. When facing battle, groups of Adsecularis Tech-thralls are deployed to serve as inexpensive cannon fodder. They advance toward the enemy while firing las-locks, even as they are mowed down by enemy weapons. This box contains 20 Adsecularis Tech-thralls who are prepared to dutifully follow the orders of the Tech-magi.
Triaros Armoured Conveyor
The Triaros Armoured Conveyor is a unique transport designed with advanced technologies and powerful defensive capabilities. It features thick armor, layered techno-cant wardings, and energy shields, making it suitable for hostile environments. The transport has a capacity of 22 and is equipped with two volkite calivers, a twin-linked mauler bolt cannon, and options for two hunter-killer missiles. Additionally, it comes with a Mechanicum Macro-constructs transfer sheet.
Mechanicum Dice Set
Complementing a Mechanicum army, you can acquire a set of pearlescent red dice with white pips, featuring the Mechanicum logo on the six face. This set includes 19 standard D6 dice and one scatter dice for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy.

It includes new rules, background lore, scenarios, and two armies – Wolves of the Sea and Heralds of Darkness – with unique characters like Frydaal the Chainmaker and Galrauch, the Great Drake. Additional units and magic items are also included, offering warlords more options when building their armies. The supplement is available as a softcover book and an ePub.
Warriors of Chaos Battalion
The Warriors of Chaos Battalion includes 44 miniatures equipped to plunder for the Dark Gods. It consists of 32 Chaos Warriors, 10 Chaos Knights, and two Chaos Chariots (alternatively, Gorebeast Chariots). Additionally, the set includes a Warriors of Chaos transfer sheet featuring 621 transfers.
Warriors of Chaos Reference Card Pack and Dice Set
The pack includes 36 reference cards for magic equipment, enchanted and arcane items, spell lores, and gifts of Chaos, as well as useful rules. It also comes with a set of 20 black dice with gold pips, featuring the eight-pointed star of Chaos on the six face, perfect for invoking favor from the Ruinous Powers during crucial rolls.
Chaos Warriors
The majority of a Warriors of Chaos army consists of tireless soldiers dressed in dark armor. The Chaos Warriors box includes 32 plastic warriors, providing enough pieces to assemble two units of 16 with complete command squads. Chaos Warriors Upgrades

Chaos Chosen and CommandÂ
Chaos Warriors blessed by the Dark Gods are called Chosen. These fearsome fighters possess unnatural strength granted by their malevolent patrons, allowing them to wreak havoc on the battlefield. Each unit consists of five metal miniatures, and there is also a distinct set of five metal miniatures to depict a command group.
Classic Warriors of Chaos Characters
The options for leading your forces to attack the southern territories with Chaos-influenced heroes include a Champion of Chaos, a Sorcerer of Chaos, and the impressive Chaos Lord on Manticore in plastic. Additionally, the returning metal options consist of the venerable Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount, a Sorcerer of Chaos on Chaos Steed, and an alternate Champion of Chaos.
Classic Warriors of Chaos Monsters and War Machines
The Warriors of Chaos offer a wide array of terrifying monsters, including Dragon Ogres, a monstrous Chimera, and a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth in plastic, as well as fearsome Skin Wolves and a Gigantic Spawn of Chaos in Forge World resin. Additionally, there are brutish Chaos Trolls, Chaos Ogres, and the Chaos Ogres Command Group available in metal. For problems that can’t be solved by flesh alone, the Hellcannon, an artillery piece with daemonic sentience and crewed by Chaos Dwarfs, is available in Forge World resin.
