Kenny is no stranger to all things painting as he turns out streams and videos every week to help other hobbyists learn how to paint better. This time he’s showing off the techniques and paints he uses for the Warp Talons he took with him to LVO. He will mostly be using Pro Acryl Paints.
Spraying Gold & Painting Armor: Chaos Hobby Hack
Starting off with a change in methods, Kenny actually bases the whole model with Testors Gold Spray Enamel and then went over it with a dull coat spray.
Next, he takes Pro Acryl Rich Gold and White Gold and dry brush it onto the model. Do the same with Pro Acryl Silver as well. Follow this by basing all the non-trim armor in Transparent Blue, the claws in Transparent Purple, the joints and straps with Transparent Black, and the holes in the shoulder with Transparent Red. Once that dries cover the model in a black wash to marry all the colors together.
This right now is battle-ready! Easy and Quick but, with a few more steps we can take it to the next level!
He finished up with a solid black coat, then dry brushed a mix of brown, ochre, and bone colors. He also does some quick edge highlights on the straps with a grey. He also places a tuft of grass on the base. For the final step, he takes the Transparent Blue again and mixes in some white, with this he does some spaced edge highlights to simulate a sort of lightning pattern.
With that, the model is complete!
