Asmodee Is for Sale, Here’s What You Get For 2 Billion Euros!

asmodee-wall-title-horAsmodee is for sale and the asking price for the board game giant is quite high- check out what we know so far!

Asmodee is one of the biggest conglomerates in the entire industry, and chances are they make a tabletop or board game you either have played or currently own. They have bought up all kinds of companies in the past few years and the sales have to be doing well for the asking price of 2 Billion Euros. PAI recently bought Asmodee (back in 2018) for 1.2 billion and if they can find a buyer, that is quite the profit for only three years of investment.

Star Wars Legion S TrooperThis could also explain some of the recent high-profile departures from the AMG (owned by Asmodee) for Star Wars Legion / X-Wing. Plus, they recently put a hold on Armada, which we were confused about, but this sort of all makes sense now with the new info.

Asmodee for Sale, Buy it for Only 2 Billion Euros!

asmodee walThis is still in the very early stages, but reports are they have asked Goldman Sachs to help facilitate the sale. It’s hard to tell what type of effect this will have on so many games we love. Hopefully, whoever buys it actually looks to keep advancing the games and doesn’t let them slide. Obviously, this includes all the Star Wars games but also affects anything from Atomic Mass Games.

X-men-New-Marvel-Crisis-protocolWe’ve been loving MCP lately, so hopefully, they just let the game keep growing.  There isn’t a ton of info out there, but we were able to find a quote from Unquote about the sale:

Asmodee sponsor PAI Partners is said to have mandated Goldman Sachs and Natixis to organize the sale of France-based board games and puzzles business Asmodee Group, according to French daily L’Agefi.

Catan 3D editionWith them controlling so many game studio subsidiaries and board games, this could be a huge shakeup in the gaming world. Let’s just hope the new owners keep the games rolling. If they can’t find a buyer, hopefully, PAI will not just squash a ton of games we love as they seem to be somewhat uninterested in the company. We’ll just have to wait and see at this point.

How do you think this will change the games? Do you think a new owner would be better or worse?
