RUMORS: 2023 Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces Spotted

Don’t miss this one! A pretty convincing picture has been spotted of the 40k Christmas Battleforces, and it matches the previous rumors!

There were a bunch of boxes last year if you count the extra Space Marine one’s Games Workshop tacked on at the end, but from the sounds of it, we will get about just as many this time around for 40k. Obviously, like with all rumors, take these with as much salt as you need because nothing is confirmed until GW says it!

Now, from the looks of it, we have an actual picture! This doesn’t necessarily mean someone couldn’t have just photoshopped it, but it is promising!

RUMORS: 2023 40k Christmas Battleforces Spotted

The new Warhammer 40k Christmas 2023 Battleforces rumors come from Bolter and Chainsword.

Right off the bat, this looks like a battleforce and on actual cardboard. So, while it’s possible someone set this up, it looks legit to us, as the models also look like the GW-painted ones. Now for the contents, this lines up nearly perfectly with the rumors we saw for the Guard box.

It looks like you get 20 Cadians, a Command Squad, and two Rogal Dorn Tanks! This is a good box whether you are looking to start an army or yours is just severely lacking big tanks! And this might be a way to get older players to refit their army with the new models at a discounted price.

Everything in the box is “new,” as in from their most recent rework, which is nice if you didn’t get any of the big offerings for them at the end of 9th edition. Let’s check out the value inside the box, and if it will be worth buying.

Astra Militarum 2023 Battleforce Value:

Command Squad 35€ $45

Total: 275€ -> 35% discount $345 in USD Value

If the boxes go for the same price as last year ($230 adjusted for 2023 increases), then this will be a pretty insane box in terms of value. Plus, the contents are pretty good, so we expect these to get picked up pretty quickly.

2022 Games Workshop 40k Battleforces 2022 Battleforce boxes

Let’s get right into the numbers! Just to note, these USD numbers are based on boxes of the same price. At 180€, they will most likely be $230, but who knows where GW will go this time…

Bases on last years 35%-40% discounts I would expect 180€ this year instead of last year’s 170€ and that’s what the % discounts are based on

Space Marines 2023 Battleforce:

Jump Assault Captain 32.5€ $35 based on the Captain with Relic Shield
15x Jump Assault Intercessors 3x 55€ 3x $65 ($195) bases on Heavy Intercessors, see below
Invader-ATV 40€ $50
Outriders 50€ $60

Total: 287.5€ -> 37% discount $340 in USD Value

(For the JA Intercessors, I only expect 5x per box, same as the Heavy Intercessors, since the discount doesn’t add otherwise, but maybe there are more ATVs/Outriders in the box; Valrak only specified the 15x Jump Assault Intercessors)

Tyranids 2023 Battleforce:

Total: 302.5€ -> 40% discount $380 in USD Value

(Valrak didn’t know how many Hormagaunts and Genestealers will be in the box, but based on the discount, I expect either a 3/1 split for Hormagaunts or a 2/2 split, with the 2/2 split, it would be 305€ and 41%)

World Eaters 2023 Battleforce:

Angron 130€ $170
Berserkers 1×55€? see below $65
Eightbound 2×50€? see below $60 ($120)

Total: 285€ -> 37% discount $355 in USD Value

(Again, Valrak didn’t know how many Berserkers/Eightbound will be in the box for sure, just that one of them would be 2x with the other 1x, but since Eightbound fit Angron better, I expect 2x of those.)

Leagues of Votan 2023 Battleforce:

Grimnyr 35€ $45
Einhyr Hearthguard 2×50€? see below $60 ($120)
Sagitaur 55€ $65
Hekaton Land Fortress 90€ $115

Total: 280€ -> 36% discount $345 in USD Value

(He only talked about 1x Hearthguard in the video, but then the discount doesn’t work, and I think a second one is likelier than 2x Sagitaurs.)

Orks 2023 Battleforce:

Kill Rig 110€ $140
Beast Snagga Boyz 2×45€? see below $60 ($120)
Squighog Boyz 55€ $65
Beastboss on Squigosaur 45€ $60

Total: 300€ -> 40% discount $385 in USD Value

(Again didn’t specify any numbers, but the Boyz are the most likely to double up.)

Some pretty great boxes overall, and if these rumors are true, each army is going to get a decent number of savings. Orks are looking to come out on top, but the Nids box and the Space Marines box will be getting a ton of new minis in their boxes.

There are a lot of different offerings this time over last year, which is good to see GW spread the love to more factions. Either way, let’s hope GW keeps the price at $230, as in 2021, they were $210.

Just remember, though, these are rumors, so don’t get too hyped or mad about the contents. However, if these are right, each army gets a pretty themed box, which is fun for both new collectors and people just looking to add some juice to their army.
