Eight boxes covered a lot of ground in 2022. Loyalist poster boys, both big Chaos primarchs, Knights, Admech, Custodes, and Sisters all got one, so almost every 40k army had something to open on Christmas morning. Having value options matters, because it meant you weren’t stuck choosing between value and actually wanting the army, the way you were back when GW only put out a couple of these a year.
GW’s pitch came wrapped in the usual Yuletide cheer, but the only line that matters to your wallet is that these are big bundles, so let’s see how big.
Initially, these came out with a price of $210; however, with the newest price increases, they are all going to $230, so just something to keep in mind. Let’s see what kind of value they still have.

Are the 2022 Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces Worth it?
So which one should you actually buy? The overall value spread is tight, roughly $20 between the best and worst, and every box clears the bar, so the real question is whether you want the minis, not whether the math works.
Here’s the simple way to sort it. Starting an army fresh? Chase the boxes where the value is spread across usable units, so the Elimination Maniple ($185) and the Chainbreaker Lance ($135) are the standouts. Just topping up an existing force? The character-heavy boxes like the Court of the Crimson King and the Council of the Death Lord are gold if you don’t own Magnus or Mortarion yet, and a trap if you do, since the primarch is most of the savings.
Either way, the price story is short: these started at $210 and now sit at $230 with the latest increase, and we’ve recalculated every savings figure off that $230. Even at the new price, you’re still coming out ahead on all eight.

New 40k Space Marines Battleforces: Pricing & Value Breakdown Review
This time, these Battleforces are all for the first founding chapters, as Warhammer Community unveiled the new box sets and what you can score in each!
The short version: with Armies on Parade season rolling around, GW circled back to four First Founding Chapters the Christmas wave skipped, handing the Iron Hands, Salamanders, White Scars, and Ultramarines their own boxes. It’s a solid mop-up for the big names, though anyone whose First Founding Chapter still wasn’t in the lineup got left waiting again.
Iron Hands: March of Iron Strike Force Battleforce:
Dreadnoughts are some of the most powerful weapons in the Space Marines’ arsenal, and the March of Iron Strike Force is all about getting them into the thick of the fight. Two hulking Redemptor Dreadnoughts are backed up by the engineering prowess of a Primaris Techmarine and Iron Father Feirros himself, while 10 Intercessors follow in their wake to secure the ground.

Salamanders: Warforged Strike Force
Plunge into the fires of battle with Adrax Agatone and a solid wall of 20 resilient Intercessors. Then hammer the anvil of war with the gravis-armoured might of three Eradicators and three Aggressors. The Warforged Strike Force is as Salamanders as they come, and provides you with all the sturdy CORE Infantry you need to make good use of the chapter’s new secondary objective.

If your ideal defence is a blisteringly fast offence, the Storm of Chogoris is the battleforce for you. Built around a dependable core of six Primaris Outriders and two Invader ATVs led by a Primaris Chaplain on Bike, this express delivery of pain discards weak and feeble legs for the mechanical purity of the wheel.

Space Marines: Scions of Macragge
It wouldn’t be a Space Marine party without the Ultramarines, and the final battleforce shows them at their versatile best. You get objective control from 10 Intercessors, supreme firepower from 10 Hellblasters, melee mastery from three Bladeguard Veterans, tactical genius from Marneus Calgar, and psychic dominance from Chief Librarian Tigurius. Two members of the Victrix Guard have even joined their Chapter Master for the ride.

Are the Warhammer 40k Space Marines Battleforces Worth it?
Ranking the four is easy: the White Scars and Scions of Macragge boxes give you the most value and the most usable army, while Iron Hands and Salamanders trail on both counts. All four still beat buying piecemeal, so even the weaker two are a fine way to start a Chapter.
One timing note worth keeping in mind: Marine kits have a habit of going out of stock the moment GW drops a new codex, and with more Space Marine releases always looming, grabbing the box you want sooner beats hunting it down later.
Arks of Omen 40k Balefleet Battleforce
Quick heads-up: the Balefleet box isn’t actually a 2022 Christmas Battleforce, it’s a Chaos Space Marines bundle from the Arks of Omen wave. But it lands in the same bundle-value territory, so it earns a spot here.
