Check out how easy to build the Custode Allarus Terminator kit is, and how to play them in Warhammer 40k.
The Golden Legion has landed and the Allarus Terminators are ready to arrive on golden light and punish the enemies of the Emperor!
These are your terminator options for the Adeptus Custodes in 40k at releases, and they are absolute monsters. Armored in ornate Allarus terminator plate and armed with the fearsome castellan axes, they embody the sound and the fury when they teleport in suddenly. Our very own Rob Baer has the Allarus kit on the paint bench to review and assemble. Let’s dive in and see what you will find in this kit.

The Allarus Terminators retails for $50 and comes with two sprues. The detail is at the usual level that we have come to expect. The armor is ornate, with every piece of this armor having intricate plating, layering, and just great detail. When assembling, you will need to pay attention to the part numbers as they do not match in the instruction manual. As for the assembly itself, it is a simple multi-part kit with few gotchas. The cape will have to be attached in and not left separate to paint sadly.
As you can see, the Allarus Terminator is equal in size to the Aquilon Terminator from Forge World. The same could not be said for the Valoris model that towered over Ixion Hale. The Aquilon Terminator comes on a 50mm base and a squad of three will run you around $70. The Allarus Terminator comes on a 40mm oddly enough. When comparing detail work, they both hold there own quite well and it will more than likely boil down to style and pricing.
Here’s a picture of one just done up with airbrush fades. It is possible with a good quality airbrush to fade the gold and the red of the cape (or any color that you may want) separately. However, you may have some slight cleanup work to do on the knife, and moon boots.
We used our tutorial for Army Painter’s Golds that is so shiny it barely can be photographed under normal light, along with their reds as well to paint our Allarus models (above).
Here is what the gold and reds look like on the Dragon Cat we painted live on Twitch with a picture taken under photography lamps.

Allarus Custodians: $50
The Allarus Custodians deploy with sudden fury to tear the throat from the enemy army. Where a strongpoint must be cracked wide open, a traitor warship boarded or a foul demagogue slain even as he stands amidst his dedicated bodyguards, there are the Allarus Custodians unleashed. These warriors wear suits of Allarus Terminator plate, expertly crafted armour whose worth can be measured in worlds. Their weapons, too, are formidable, guardian spears twice the height of a man, or castellan axes that can lop the head from an Ork psyker with a single blow. Allarus Custodians eliminate key targets, sow anarchy and confusion through unsuspecting forces and completely destabilise the foe’s formations.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a 3-model squad of Allarus Custodians. Each is clad in spectacular, expertly-crafted Allarus Terminator armour – this is covered in finely sculpted sigils of the Emperor, with Imperial eagles, lightning bolts, gemstones and filigree covering every surface. They are armed as standard with with castellan axe and wrist-mounted balistus grenade launcher – each model can replace the axe with a guardian spear, as 3 are included. 4 misericordia daggers are also in the kit, 1 of which is a special variant for a Shield-Captain. 3 helmets and 3 bare heads are included, with 4 helmet plumes.
You have the option to assemble 1 model as a Shield-Captain, using the specific shoulder pads, thigh plates, helmet plume and misericordia supplied, and 1 model can be assembled as a Vexilus Praetor, using the ornate vexilla in the kit.
This kit comes as 73 components, and is supplied with 3 Citadel 40mm Round bases.
The Allarus Custodians are available now online and in local Games Workshop stores. Be sure to press play on our quick and dirty review video below for the full product breakdown.
