Do you remember the good old days of the Warhammer 40k hobby? Take a look at the RTB-01 kit that got the ball rolling not only for Space Marines in 40k but also Horus Heresy.

We’re blowing the dust off of this one in a 40k Vintage flashback. Check out the Rogue Trader Space Marine sculpt that all of the Horus Heresy Marines were based on.

Sprue came with power fist, however, is missing.

Ladies and gentlemen, if this looks old to you, that’s because it is. This is the RTB01 Accessory sprue that was a part of the old Rogue Trader Box set of plastic Space Marines Circa 1988, and republished as Imperial Space Marines in 1991. We can make out a bolt pistol, bolter, flamer, missile launcher, and a few extra arms and heads.

You may notice some similarities with the older Forge World Pre-Heresy Heavy Weapons set they released years ago. The missile launcher and flamer are almost spitting images from the sprue. They just added a little flare to the guns. Plus, thanks to modern times, the sculpts are a lot cleaner.

This is a fun little “look back” to see just how far Space Marines have come! Thank goodness the bolter got a rework.

Seeing that this sprue came from the Rogue Trader era, the original box is hard to find. But take a look at what you would’ve seen on the shelf if you needed to pick up these bits from back in the day!

If you’re exploring the deal box at your local hobby shop and come across this gem, now you’ll know what you’ve got!

What do you think about the old Rogue Trader Marine sculpts? Do you prefer them over 40k’s Marines now? How long have you been playing 40k? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
