RUMORS Emperor’s Children & Black Templars Box Set Contents

emperors children black templars box rumors

Wondering what we could see inside of a new rumored Black Templars and Emperor’s Children 40k starter box for Psychic Awakening?

If you haven’t already heard, Black Templars were mentioned in some new starter box rumors lately. Originally, the Box Set was said to be with Orks. However, there’s been new rumors mentioning the Emperor’s Children in place of the Xenos in a Box Set.

Here’s why it makes could sense for it to be Chaos, now.

Psychic Awakening Book #2 (After Phoenix Rising)- Terra?

Recently Sablednah found that the Sisters of Battle icon was next in line, which along with the Night Lords, Emperor’s Children, World Eaters, White Scars, and Black Templars were spotted in the October 20th preview:

Map icon #2 found right after the Aeldari symbol.

This area of the map was zoomed in on using the code on the page for event #2.

Compare the map above that was labeled Terra and Mars with the map that showed

It only makes sense that Terra and Mars would be the focus of some kind of conflict. But it might be on their homeworlds vs. them sending forces to another part of the galaxy. That being said, Terra is one of the most fortified places in Imperium. In theory, nobody from the outside with a massive army should just make planetfall.

It would make sense that the Sisters of Battle would be next as it could pair up nicely with their new release in the coming month(s)

Factions we could be seeing in Book 2 based on GW’s teaser images:

  • Sisters of Battle (highly likely)
  • Night Lords
  • Emperor’s Children
  • World Eaters
  • White Scars
  • Black Templars

We had heard rumors of a Black Templars starter box that may be on the way recently. Now that they are “in play” from these new previews could Psychic Awakening II also have an accompanying starter box like the Blood of the Phoenix? Signs may be pointing to yes as we head into the holiday season.

New Psychic Awakening Box Set Rumors LATEST

Remember, these are all still rumors from BoLS, so take it with a pinch of salt.

The Black Templars boxed set will include a Primaris Emperor’s Champion and one new updated unit.

The opponents are Chaos Marines A new Chaos Unit and a Chaos Character are included. Slaanesh is the theme of the Chaos side.

Black Templars Faction Side

Assuming that these rumors are true, here is what we could be seeing as far as units go for Black Templars and Emperor’s Children in a Box Set.

Black Templars are one of the more unique Space Marine factions out there as they’ve got quite a few options that are inclusive to the faction.  If GW wanted to get creative and spruce up the Black Templars a bit, it would be cool to see:

  • Crusader Squads featuring Primaris and Tactical Marines together (similar to Tactical Marines and Scouts).  $60?
  • A Primaris Emperor’s Champion (possibly as the “new” character that could come inside).  $35? (new Primaris characters are at this price point).
  • Finally, maybe one of the new Primaris Warsuits! $60 (doubtful, but hey why not)
  • Black Templars upgrade sprue. $18?

Total MSRP (assuming we would be able to buy everything individually): $173

Remember, these are just what we COULD see GW throw inside the box along with spitballed prices. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Emperor’s Children Faction Side

Lucius Faultless Blade

Looking at the Emperor’s Children for the “Slaanesh-themed Marines” in the Box Set, there are two major upgrades that GW could bring to the faction in this release. Here’s what we might see:

  • New plastic 10-man squad of Noise Marines $60? We only have upgrade sprues for Noise Marines. However, they could be around the price of the newly scaled Chaos Marine models.
  • A plastic Lucius the Eternal Model or even Fabius Bile $40? (This has been the set price for all new named Space Marine characters).
  • Havocs (great options the shoot-twice Stratagem support for EC) $55
  • Chaos Rhino? (Usually, both sides have some kind of light-mechanized unit) $40

Total MSRP (Assuming we could buy everything individually already) $195

Again, these are just our ideas of what we COULD be seeing in the Box Set if the rumors are true. Nothing has been confirmed.

Hopefully, It Won’t be a Blood of the Phoenix Mirror

Blood of the Phoenix

Whatever the Box Set might be (if there even is one) our hope is that it won’t come with the peaked price of $230. This Aeldari Box Set broke the record as the most expensive Infantry Starter Box Set we’ve seen of the normal GW scale albeit, it did also come with a small campaign book.

At the end of the day, it’s agreeable that Black Templars and Emperor’s Children could definitely use some love. Especially since Black Templars were left out of the Supplement wave for Dorn’s Chapters. For the Emperor’s Children, they haven’t had any kind of love in a hot minute and are still operating on Finecast minis.

What would you like to see next for Psychic Awakening? Would you prefer to see Black Templars and Emperor’s Children or Black Templars and Orks like the original rumors?
