This 40k Super Heavy Just Turned 3 Over the Holidays

Space Marine walpaperThis Warhammer 40k Super Heavy just had a birthday, and like most things, last year- seemed to slide by unnoticed.

The Astraeus Super-Heavy tank is just massive, that is one thing that definitely hasn’t changed! And it also managed to survive the Forge World cleansing by not getting moved to Legend status, so that’s a plus.

Before we get into rule, points, and price changes, let’s all get a quick refresher on this crazy tank.

This 40k Super Heavy Just Turned 3 Over the Holidays

Tank Size ComparisonThe sheer size of this tank is a little awe-inspiring, the big guns alone are almost the length of the Baneblade from the looks of the picture. This wasn’t the first size comparison of the new tank we’ve seen though.

We got another look at it next to other vehicles during the Forge World preview on Warhammer TV a few years back.

Well, those three things haven’t changed a bit! It still has firepower, durability, and mobility, but the points have gone up and the price has as well a little. But for how much you’re already paying, the price didn’t change that much.

What’s Changed Over 2 Years

Astraeus Superheavy Tank RulesOld Datasheet

First off, it went up by 6 wounds which is pretty nice! Its attacks in CC did go down, but that’s not really what you took it for anyway. The strength went down on its Plasma weaponry, but with it being blast and d6 instead of d3 shots it should be more effective at mowing down infantry, but you’ll have to overcharge it to get that 2+ to wound on a ton of infantry now. But with 30 wounds, what’s a few mortals taken?

On top of the actual datasheet changes, it went up about 150 points, which isn’t too crazy considering everything has gone up. But you’ll have to seriously move stuff around to actually put this in your army.  The last change really is the price, it went up £11 which isn’t really too terrible considering everything has gone up in price.

Wishing it a Happy Birthday
