In a recent post, Henry Cavill name-drops the Emperor of Mankind and proves he listens to Warhammer 40k fans and hobbyists!
Every hobbyist’s favorite nerd is at it again! The man never seems to cease with the awesome Warhammer love. Let’s first look at some of his other Warhammer-related posts, then check out his newest!
Henry Cavill Talks His Pile of Shame, How He Got Into Warhammer, & Playing Games On Kimmel!
Ah, the picture that really started the craze. When he first posted it on Instagram, the hobby world went crazy. However, like most non-hobby people, Kimmel is a little confused about how it all works. Maybe the best part of this interview is when Cavill talks about having too many gray miniatures! Read More

Henry Cavill to Star & Produce in Warhammer Movies & TV! December 16th, 2022
Here’s the latest from Warhammer Community and their Investor Page.
Amazon Studios today announced that it has secured global rights to Warhammer 40,000, based on the immensely popular intellectual property from Games Workshop (GAW) that has given rise to an immersive global hobby – Warhammer. The agreement encompasses rights to the universe across series, film, and more, and will sit alongside GAW’s activities as they continue to make the best miniatures in the world. This is the first deal of its kind for Amazon Studios for IP of this scale, and it allows the company to utilize the title across its entertainment businesses. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) is set to star in and executive produce the Warhammer 40,000 franchise across all Amazon Studios productions.
Games Workshop has entered a contract with Amazon to make a Warhammer Franchise of Film and TV, with Henry Cavill at the helm (see all his previous 40k involvement here)! According to the investor page, they have secured only Warhammer 40k at this point, so it looks like the Horus Heresy movie might have to wait for a little.
Still, this is just pretty amazing news for the Warhammer hobby in general!
From the looks of it, we’re still pretty far off in terms of seeing something according to the investor page:
Whilst the parties have reached an agreement on material commercial terms, the project is wholly dependent on and subject to contracts being agreed and entered into, which the parties are working towards.
The Company makes no change to its forecast for the period ending May 2023.
So, it seems like no money will be changing hands until at least the summer of 2023 at the earliest; it’s not too bad, considering this is something so awesome!
The Announcement From Henry Cavill

This is just insane news, and we hope they find a great writer to get the project off the ground! At this point, considering they don’t have everything in place, don’t get too crazed, as we’re probably a ways off from seeing the first project.
Now, it’s time to start making lists of who will actually play in the new movies and shows!
Henry Cavill Knows Which Warhammer Army Sherlock Would Play: November 4th, 2022
Henry Cavill has been making all the headlines recently with his Superman return announced (while wearing a Custodes t-shirt, no less) and then moving on from the Witcher. Enola Holmes II is his latest big project, and recently he sat down to do an interview, and of course, Warhammer is brought up.
Maybe the best part about this clip is the initial excitement when the interviewer asks the question and Cavill then totally baffles the reporter with a question about Leagues of Votann (we’ll get into why he was so confused).
Nerdist did a recent interview with him about the movie, and somewhat surprisingly, the big question (at least that they aired) was about Warhammer, and Henry Cavill sure didn’t back down from showing his hobby love once more.

It’s pretty awesome to see his body language change when Warhammer is brought up, and he immediately says, how good of a question it is. However, when he starts talking about Votann, he admits to not reading the codex fully yet, and asks the interviewer (assuming he’s a fan since asking the question) how they play.
Unfortunately, the interviewer didn’t write the question, and his coworker did. Still, a great question. If you guessed which army he would pick, you are probably right!
From his Instagram
He chooses the Custodes (who he obviously has some serious bond with) for one main reason. They have a low model count, so you have to be careful with each body to make a plan work and play with some finesse. The only unfortunate thing is we don’t get much more talk about it as the coworker who wanted to ask the question wasn’t there. Either way, it’s just really cool to see him repping Warhammer and the Custodes once again!
If you want to see his whole portion of the interview, you can jump to 3:09 in the video below. Oh, and they also talk about Enola Holms II some as well, so go check it out and support everyone’s favorite Warhammer fan!
Henry Cavill Breaks Silence on Superman (While Repping 40k): October 25th, 2022
There are spoilers ahead for Black Adam! You have been warned.
Following his appearance (albeit only a few seconds) in the mid-credits scene of Black Adam, where he tells The Rock’s Black Adam character they need to talk, we know a full movie is in the works. We have heard him twice before in Shazam! and Peacemaker, but this is the first time we saw him actually suited up since 2017!
In the other two movies, it was just a faceless cameo, this time, he was actually there. As we said, the details are scarce at this moment, but he did thank everyone for their patience and said it is going to be rewarded. We hope this means the movie is going to be awesome!
With that said, his initial contract was for Black Adam and nothing else, but that might have just been to throw people off the scent. Now though, it seems about as official as you can get with him saying:
I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman.
The suit itself looks to be somewhat updated but still has that iconic look people have come to know and love. While all the superman stuff is great, maybe the cooler part for hobbyists was the fact he did it wearing a Warhammer 40k Adeptus Custodes shirt!
Most hobbyists know by now that he reps the Custodes hard and has even put up a few posts on his Instagram painting the minis and pretty much always has glowing things to say about the hobby. Henry Cavill has visited Warhammer World, showed off his hobby desk, and more.
So, this is just really awesome to see one of his biggest announcements in a long time coming while repping the hobby! He’s also said he wants to make a Warhammer movie, but we guess we’re fine with Superman coming first. All we care about is that we eventually get that Warhammer 40k movie, hopefully with Henry Cavill as a main character!

Check out the full video for all his words, and if you want to grab the shirt that he’s wearing in the video, we got you covered below!
Adeptus Custodes Icon White T-Shirt: $29.99
The price really isn’t too bad, and there is nothing wrong with taking fashion examples from Henry Cavill. There might be a lot of these at your local game store soon! Either way, it’s just really cool to see Henry Cavill flying his Warhammer 40k nerd flag on such a big announcement!
Henry Cavill Reveals His Hobby Desk & Adeptus Custodes Minis: April 11th, 2022
View this post on Instagram
From the picture, there looks to be an airbrush in the center of the table in one of those overspray stations. OR it could even be a hot glue gun, to be honest. If the line leading down from the desk is an air hose, the compressor is under the desk behind what looks to be a GW figure case and mail order box.
You can also see a few rattle cans in the back, some paint pots, a little box of supplies, and what looks to be the same light on our hobby essentials list!
Probably best of all. it looks like he’s been hobbying recently as the desk seems to be in use. So that’s always good to see. He looks to have plenty going on back there, but we assume he’s probably painting more Custodes…
Another Painted Custodes Miniature From Cavill!
View this post on Instagram
The slight overspray of gold on the base of this Custodes model could support the sighting of an airbrush in the picture above. He says he’s been trying a bunch of techniques, so that could indeed mean airbrushing. Plus, again, it’s just so cool to see such a big celeb showing off his hobby love and bringing the idea of it to so many people!
And how much of a baller is he that there is no plastic or scrap carpet down under his desk to protect what we assume is a really nice floor from hobby “accidents”?
All the hobbyists commenting on that post seem to be requesting a close-up of the desk, so perhaps soon, we’ll see exactly what type of hobby supplies Henry Cavill uses!
Spider-Man Tom Holland Asks Superman Henry Cavill To Play Warhammer: December 5, 2021
What a time to be alive. We all know Henry Cavill is into Warhammer, but in a recent interview on the Graham Norton show, he not only confirmed he plays it but mentioned that he has folks over to game as well!
But it gets better because Tom Holland, the actor who plays Spider-Man, got in on the roasting of Cavill a bit, but in the end, asked to come over and play Warhammer too.
That’s not all, it’s possible this just went from a Warhammer Celebrity double feature to a triple event!
It is easy to miss but look closely at the guest dressed in green in the quick pan above. It’s the actress Zendaya that not only plays Spider-Man’s girlfriend ‘MJ’ in the movies but is also Tom Holland’s significant other in real life.
So not only may Spider-Man get to play Warhammer with Superman, but there is a possibility MJ will be there too… What an amazingly mainstream time for the Warhammer hobby. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
Henry Cavill Plays (or at Least Paints) Custodes!
He broke out his Custodes and is putting some gold on a helmet. Turns out, he’s been in the hobby for a while. Check out how clean that paint job is. You can see some subtle gold highlights at the sharpest edges of the bit. Which, believe it or not, takes a long time if you’re not just going to be aggressive and drybrush a slightly-lighter gold over it all.
His post also touched on the current crisis, the Easter holiday, and some kind words for England’s healthcare workers!
Considering we are, both, going through the Easter period, and going through The Lockdown, I figured it a good time to put a silver lining onto the cloud that is some of the darker moments during this time. So I’ve decided to polish some old skills and try my hand at some new ones! It is a time of rebirth after all. So, as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet…which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I’ve been following but not actively doing, is this.
A company called Games Workshop…or plastic crack as “we” call it. Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now. Also, in the background of this photo, there may just be some completely new skills I’m working on…..or there may not be, so all of your eye squinting and attempts at digital unfocusing will be in vain….orrrr maybe they won’t.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of the NHS (National Health Service, here in the UK) and healthcare workers worldwide, for your unceasing efforts to protect us. I imagine it might be feeling a little rough right now, but you Ladies and Gents are absolutely smashing it! Keep it up! You got this. “Hold on a second”, I hear you utter…..”if he has both hands in the photo…how is he taking the photo??” New skills, my friends….new skills.
Henry Cavill Shows 40k Hobbyists Why He’s One of Us (again)
In this Instagram post, while flying on a (probably) private jet, he talks about traveling to the US for work, which maybe, if you’re lucky, you can spot him while he’s here.
There are two pieces of good news here, first? He’s working on a new project! But what’s better is the book in the bottom right corner.
Penitent was on the table in his reading list. The Black Library book is a sequel to Eisenhorn and Ravenor and follows Bequin on a journey through the Grimdark future.
The Dan Abnett book isn’t really a one-off read, meaning he’s probably also read some of the Ravenor and Eisenhorn books. The book takes a deeper dive into the Inquisition and their nonstop effort against all things, not Imperial. It’s just really cool to see how much he’s willing to promote the hobby, even the Warhammer Official account liked the post. Since the 40k universe is so amazing, more people should get in on the reading.
Henry Cavill Proves He Listens to the Warhammer Fanbase
In a recent post on Instagram the way he frames the sun, it almost looks like a halo! Who else has a halo in a lot of artwork, that’s right, the Emperor!
This is such a cool pic that whether you love the Witcher or Warhammer, you can enjoy this one. His caption does have us wondering, does he have a full Warhammer collection of photos just waiting to be unleashed on the world?
Now that we’re done fangirling, how does this fit into Warhammer? That’s the real question. Well, if you don’t know who or what Neoth is, don’t feel bad.
It’s actually a name the Emperor was called in extremely ancient times. It comes from before the time when he first met Erda (who contributed some of her DNA for the Primarch project, and ultimately scatted them though the Chaos vortex) and was already trying to advance the human race and bring order to the entirety of it.
The Emperor actually gave himself this name when he ventured to the first city of humanity after seeing a vision of his uncle murdering his father.
This is barely mentioned in the lore, so any hobbyist, much less Henry Cavill to reference this, it really shows his knowledge and research! He even hashtagged it with: ObscureWarhammerReference and he isn’t kidding!
You have to give him some serious props for knowing this, but also for how he took the picture. As we’ve said, plenty of people have already cast Henry Cavill as the Emperor of mankind in their own minds.
He’s Watching the Internet
This is the picture we’re talking about and the way the sun is playing behind him above looks awfully similar to this! We have no idea if GW would ever undertake something so ambitious as a live-action Emperor, but we would love to see it!
Plus, if Henry Cavill took the lead, we would be first in line.
Henry Cavill Wants to Make a Warhammer 40k Movie
If you want to listen for yourself, the Warhammer part starts around the 23-minute mark of the podcast. Here are the highlights though. First, he talks about wanting to be in a 40k movie and not only be a character, but also help in the making of it. When talking about who he would play, the interviewer mentioned Eisenhorn and Cavill almost shoots that idea down. Why? Because he would rather play a Primarch!
GW, just get this movie made already!
He even says he would leap at the opportunity, so why isn’t this happening yet? The real reason, he understands that it needs to be handled perfectly, much like the original Lord of the Rings movies. So he doesn’t want to just jump in there and be known as the man who ruined 40k, or 30k. Side note, a 30k movie would be awesome! He mentions more than once, a movie would be his dream opportunity but isn’t sure what he would pick as the actual setting quite yet.
Henry Cavill on Playing Warhammer 40k:
He starts by mentioning he’s never played AoS but does play 40k. So maybe, just maybe you could one day be lucky enough to get a game in with him! How cool would it be to see him at a tournament? He also mentions that he bought and read every fantasy and 40k army book just to read them as a kid and teenager. So when you try and school him on lore, beware! As a kid though, he mentioned he never really had anyone to play with but learned the rules.
Anyway, he then goes onto his favorite armies, with Custodes topping the list, then Blood Angels and Salamanders taking a close second. Before the interview ends, he mentions how he likes the idea of Grey Knights hunting down Daemons and that the new codex makes them very strong in the meta!
Looks like our guy is keeping up with the game quite closely! You can listen to the interview here, and his part starts at the 24:34 mark.
Henry Cavill Finally Visited Warhammer World
The Witcher and Superman star Henry Cavill finally made the trip to Warhammer World to visit the home of the hobby he loves to talk about so much!
Every hobbyist’s favorite was front row center at Warhammer World, as Games Workshop social media team shared an official picture of his visit! From there the #HenryCavill blew up with selfies from Warhammer World and Games Workshop studio staffers.
While there has been no official word on why Cavill was there, we imagine it was a publicity opportunity for both parties, as we recently GW extend an invitation to WWE superstar Shayna Baszler to visit as well.
Henry Cavill never seems to cease with the awesome Warhammer love. This time, he took the time to pose for pics seeming with anyone that wanted them.
Here are a few of our favorites; you can click here to see the rest.

As you know, Cavill has been unrelenting in vocalizing his love or Warhammer, even soft pitching a role of the Emperor in a post on Instagram from The Witcher!
It looks like, at some point, he’s even holding the latest White Dwarf magazine, so it makes us wonder if he bought anything else while he was there.
