GW just revealed a new AoS Lumineth Realm-lords and Disciples of Tzeentch Battlebox- check out what you can score in the upcoming box!
This isn’t the box we were expecting, but if you play either of the factions, this could be a decent value for your army or start a new one.
Like with all these boxes, there are some new minis inside, giving the box some intrinsic value, as the models usually aren’t released on their own for some time.
Warhammer Community unveiled the new box, but not a release date quite yet. Let’s check it out!
New Age of Sigmar Lumineth Realm-lords & Tzeentch Battlebox Arcane Cataclysm!
Inside the box, you’ll find 55 finely detailed Citadel miniatures – perfect for starting new armies or adding to existing ones. There are also new battleplans and rules to play out the epic confrontation between these two ancient enemies.
55 minis are quite the amount, but if you look at it, it’s basically the previous army box for Lumineth and the last 3 boxes for Tzeentch put into one. Still, it’s a decent number of minis.
The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed the points values for the Scinari Enlightener in the recent Warhammer Age of Sigmar updates. Now, you can get your first glimpse of this powerful mage that uses the symmetry and symbolism of Hysh as a weapon.
If you saw this in the points and wondered what this was, here you go! The model itself is pretty cool but nothing too crazy, honestly. Still, nothing wrong with getting new minis.
AoS Lumineth Realm-lords Scinari Enlighteners Rules Revealed!
These peerless warrior-wizards walk a different path from their kin, seeking inner truths and pondering the nature of the cosmos itself. This powerful understanding of Hyshian symmetry is a tool to “educate” the lesser races in blazing beams of searing white light, manifesting the wrath of the Realm.
Denezia Warwidow draws upon the duality that imbues the Rune of Enthlai held in her hand to boost her already considerable powers. This artefact may repeat a successful spellcast on a roll of 3+. One cast, double the fun.
Getting a double cast is pretty sweet and considering it’s only on 3+, you should get this off most turns. Just keep in mind, that it’s only on one spell, so make sure you choose wisely!
Their mastery of the symbolism and symmetry of Hysh allows Scinari Enlighteners to bind themselves to a foe with a cord wound from reality itself. When the Scinari Enlightener takes a wound or mortal wound, this causal link causes the same injury to their unwilling partner.
This is a very interesting spell, but if you know an enemy unit is going to attack your model, might make for some fun scenarios.
This mighty wizard is accompanied into battle by units of Vanari Dawnriders, Vanari Bladelords, and Vanari Auralan Sentinels, forming the rigid core of an aevlen army.
As we said, this is basically the same as the previous box, but depending on the price, it could be a decent value and the units inside are useful.
Disciples of Tzeentch
While the Scinari Enlightener is a pure wizard, the Curseling is also pretty handy in a fight (as you might expect from someone with that many extra hands), especially when he’s backed up by Tzaangor Enlightened, Kairic Acolytes, and a horde of Tzaangors.
The Changeling is pretty cool and because of them being part of the box, we might be able to expect more rules updates for them soon.
The rest of the box is pretty interesting with plenty of minis to be had, although many are the same as previous battlebox and battle force offerings.
The box also includes a 56-page core rulebook featuring new battleplans, a token sheet, and warscroll cards for all the units in the box, so you’re all ready to get your Lumineth Realm-lords and Disciples of Tzeentch onto the tabletop.
This has become standard for the army boxes, and it’s always nice to grab them in the bigger boxes.
New Arcane Cataclysm Lumineth Realm-lords Warscrolls Rules
These pics come from the Sprues & Brews unboxing and review.
As we saw before, stacking effects is awesome, and a pretty decent mage overall!
Some big changes here, first, you can’t shoot out of LOS anymore, but you are doing mortals and ignoring cover at 24″.
Next up, Shining Company means basically as long as you’re in formation, you’re getting the -1 to hit, so it should work basically all the time!
Tzeentch Warscroll Rules
The ability to steal a spell is just insane if you are against a one-cast wizard; they literally can’t do anything! Then, getting a ranged attack is nice, and giving a ward save is also solid.
This is a huge change… They no longer cast spells, so that is what it is…
Tzaangors get a pretty big buff as they hit harder and can get an additional attack. Finally, if they charge, they get +1 to wound, which means basically the whole unit wounds on 2’s.
Shutting down commands is probably the biggest change here, which is pretty serious! Now, let’s check out what kind of value is actually in the box!
AoS Arcane Cataclysm Box: $220 Retail
Inside the box, you’ll find 55 finely detailed Citadel miniatures – perfect for starting new armies or adding to existing ones. There are also new battleplans and rules to play out the epic confrontation between these two ancient enemies.
Originally we based this value Arcane Cataclysm Box breakdown on the price of the Echoes of Doom box, which sold for $195. However, unfortunately, this box was revealed to have a retail price of $220, 25 more than EoD.
Lumineth Value:
- Scinari Enlightener $35 (based on recent characters)
- Vanari Dawnriders $65
- Vanari Bladelords $60
- Vanari Auralan Sentinels $60
Total MSRP: $220
Total value versus half the $195 box price for Lumineth: $110
Disciples of Tzeentch Value:
- Curseling $35 (based on most recent characters?)
- Tzaangor Enlightened $55
- Kairic Acolytes $55
- Tzaangors $50
Total MSRP: $195
Value versus half the $195 box price for Tzeentch: $85
The overall value breakdown of the Arcane Cataclysm Box versus the confirmed retail price of $220 is $415. So if you buy the box at the retail price, you could profit well over $200 in value “in Games Workshop money.”
That is not counting the small AoS core rulebook that we assume will also come in this box and add some value.
Is the Arcane cataclysm Box Set Worth it?
Yes, it seems this is actually a very good value for both armies inside but obviously a bit better for Lumineth.
You get a similar number of minis for both sides, but with higher prices for the Lumineth, they get more value. Plus, if you split it, both people will be paying $110 and getting right around $200 worth of value, so honestly, this is a pretty good box overall!
The only real downside to the box is that it’s basically repackaged releases from the previous bundle boxes for both armies with only one new model inside for both.
However, value-wise it makes the Warhammer 40k boxes look weak in comparison once again.
Will you be picking this new Arcane Cataclysm box up? Do you like the two new models?
