Games Workshop continues to rebrand Forge World as more and more models that are resin move to their main webstore.
Games Workshop mentioned a rebrand a couple of years ago and changed the Forge World social media page’s name once. However, since then, they have continued to turn higher interest in Forge World products into more of a “GW-branded” product.
The recent release of Horus Ascended is the first release sent to both platforms and given to content creators, presumably to get more eyes on the product.
We’ll look back at some of the earlier rebrandings, but first, let’s look at the newest stuff.

Games Workshop Continues to Rebrand Forge World LATEST
At release, the gorgeous new Horus Ascended model is available on both the main Games Workshop webstore, as well as the Forge World site.
We think this is the first time we’ve seen a model released to both sites simultaneously as a new release. While the other Primarchs are on the site, they were originally on Forge World and eventually moved over. So, we’ll have to see what happens in the future, but this is a big step to releasing the same model to both sites at the same time and moving people further away from Forge World, even for resin.
This resin modelling kit is not a toy – it is a collectible item and construction should only be undertaken by expert Warhammer hobbyists aged 15 years and over.
Interestingly, they put this disclaimer on the GW site but not the Forge World site. So maybe we’ll see more expert-level kits appear on GW’s site in the future.
Last but not least, it seems like GW sent out this Forge World kit to content creators for promotion for the first time that we recall. Meaning they may have wanted as many eyes as possible on this since it was released for sale on both the Games Workshop and the Forge World sites at the same time.
Again, this might not seem huge by itself, but sending these dual-release Forge World products to content creators, who in the past normally had to purchase the miniatures, just seems like the latest in FW’s rebranding.
Latest Forge World Rebrand on Social Media
Here’s what Games Workshop said about the new rebrand on what was previously their Forge World Facebook page.
Over the next few days, our page name will be changing to Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Don’t worry though, we’re still the go-to page for all things Age of Darkness related!
They are still constantly pumping out resin pieces, so we don’t feel like FW will totally disappear, but more just get sucked into Games Workshop, similar to how Citadel Miniatures did. We assume this is to stop confusion and make it easier just to have everything in one place, especially with HH now being a bigger game across their lines.
However, Games Workshop says this page will now be dedicated to Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness.
This is the quote from a Vince Ventrella video that is now private, but in it, he talked for a bit about something the FW crew mentioned at the NoVA Open preview in 2019:
Coming very soon they are going to make a huge announcement about how Forge World works, what it does, what it produces, and how it works with Games Workshop. They couldn’t give any other details than that, they only said coming soon expect very big changes with Forge World
Keep in mind while Games Workshop says they will still do HH, they don’t say it is the end of resin products for other games.
It really feels like they are trying just slowly to absorb Forge World into the main company, and who knows, maybe in a couple of years, it will just be another tab on the top of the Games Workshop webstore.
Rebranding of Horus Heresy Resin Forge World Products
Packs like these started coming out in the summer of 2022, and the branding was radically different from the existing resin products. They called them bespoke resin pieces not only in terms of packaging but also in the fact that they called them bespoke resin pieces.
If you look at the title at the top of the packaging, it looks exactly like (well, more or less) the new banner for Forge World’s social media pages. We also initially thought these would be available from Games Workshop, but Forge World did seem to keep the resin products.
