Discover the Epic Games Workshop Previews Still to Come in 2023!

gw-previews-new-warhammerBrace yourself for all these upcoming Games Workshop previews left for 2023, showcasing all the thrilling new releases left for this year!

While this year has already seen remarkable reveals like Warhammer 40k 10th Edition and enticing new Old World models, it appears that major preview events might slow down over the summer and into the holidays. Nevertheless, strong rumors suggest the release of Old World and perhaps a new Epic game system before the year’s end.

Although Games Workshop has the flexibility to surprise us with impromptu previews, let’s explore the tentative previews for the remainder of the year and take a peek at all the upcoming major events on their radar.

Games Workshop Previews Still to Come in 2023!

uk games expo

UK Games Expo- This is the next big upcoming event (06/02-06/04) which GW previously attended every year before the pandemic. However, it looks like they will not have a preview there this year, however, they did last time the attended back in 2019.

Here is the latest from UK Games Expo Themselves:

We are delighted to welcome back Games Workshop as Major Sponsors of UK Games Expo in 2023.

Established in 1975, Games Workshop is the world’s leading maker of tabletop miniatures. Warhammer, their signature product, is a recognised brand worldwide, with stores across the globe.

Ryan Schwarz, Games Workshop Senior Event Manager said

“We are excited to return to UK Games Expo with great activities like tournaments, free miniature painting, and new to the UK, an amazing Warhammer laser tag experience!”

US open Series 2023

US Open Kansas City- This will be taking place at the same time as the Games Expo, and while there won’t be a traditional preview at the open, there will be live-streamed 10th Edition games with the new Datasheets.

According to  Warhammer Community: There are a few treats for avid Warhammer 40,000 fans. From 7pm CDT (1am BST) on Thursday the 1st of June and Friday the 2nd of June, we’ll be hosting full 2,000 point games from the new edition. There’ll be expert commentators on hand to break down the action and discuss the new datasheets for each and every unit that appears.

US Tacoma Open-  This will run in July from the 14th to the 16th. We’ve never seen a new release preview at a US open, and from what GW is saying about it, there will be no big previews from this event. Plus with 10th out by this time, this will be their first official 40k tournament with the new edition.

GenCon- Next up is GenCon (08/03-08/06), and while we’ve seen some previews in the past, for 2023, GW hasn’t said anything about a preview this year.

In 2021, they did have a preview at GenCon, but didn’t announce it until right before the event. So there is still some hope for a preview.  Keep an eye on the site as we get into July for more info on a potential preview.

Nova Open- This runs from (08/30-09/03), and we almost always see a preview at this event. It seems like it would make sense for them to announce Old World or Epic there, as it gives them a couple of months to release the game before the end of the year.

So, the next definite preview from Games Workshop that we can expect is in August/September.

US Open Tampa- Like the Tacoma Open, we don’t expect to see any previews at the open events.

warhammer day preview 2022Warhammer Day– Early October generally has a Warhammer Day preview,  and we have seen some big reveals during the event. Back in 2021, they previewed a ton for AoS, 40k, and more.

So this will probably be one of the most significant previews near the end of the year.

World Championships of Warhammer- While they haven’t promised a preview for this, of all the US tournaments, this would make sense to have one. However, it’s impossible to say for sure as the two previous season-enders in Arizona, and the Warhammer Citadel Store did not.

Plus, this isn’t until (11/16-11/19), meaning they have a long time left to announce something for this.

black-library-preview

Black Library Day– Generally, in November or December, GW normally does a preview for Black Library. However, this is generally a very small preview for actual new models as the focus is more on their books.

Warhammer 40k 2023 minis

New Year’s Preview– Generally, there is some preview around the first of each year. In 2023 they drooped a big set of previews on New Year’s; however, they mainly showed shadowed minis and not the full models themselves.

While it was nice to see, there is no way to know if we will see a live preview or more of the shaded-out miniatures revealed in early 2024.

So overall, there really is only a handful of actual new model previews from Games Workshop in 2023, but with 10th Edition 40k, as well as more games like Epic and Old World rumored soon, there are still a lot of exciting reveals left for all things Warhammer!
