10th Edition Warhammer 40k Gets It’s First Balance Update

Balance-Datasheet-warhammer-40kGW is keeping the Balance Dataslate updates going for Warhammer 40k in 10th Edition; here are the first official changes!

Games Workshop is keeping its promise for updates quite quickly at the beginning of 10th Edition. There have been some serious complaints from players, and Aeldari has even been banned at a few tournaments.

So, they have to do something about the faction, and we’ll see if this is enough. GW also promised a clean-up of the Index Cards near the end of July and a big balance update in Autumn.

They also updated the points for most Towering and Indirect Fire units, but we covered that on its own right here if you want to check out the full breakdown.

10th Edition Warhammer 40k Balance Update For Aeldari Strands of Fate & More

The new Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Balance Dataslate updates come from Warhammer Community.

GW FAQ

First, the Aeldari Strands of Fate army ability receives a change to limit its power early in the game, and prevent several Fate dice being used to overcharge a single powerful attack. Now limited to just one use per phase, Aeldari players will need to think carefully about when to best apply their prognostications – though units who can manipulate the dice, like Farseers, will remain as valuable as ever.

This changes it to once per phase, meaning you can’t just substitute all your dice at once. If you did happen to pick up the physical index cards, you can use the errata below to fix them.

10th Edition 40k FAQ 2While this is a decent change to the rule, we’re not sure it’s a big enough change to really NERF them, as you can still get re-rolls for basically everything anyways.

10th Edition 40k FAQTheir faction rule remains unchanged, so while they can use fewer Fate Dice, you still get two free re-rolls per unit in every shooting and fight phase. Either way, it’s a step in the right direction, and we’ll have to see how it plays out!
