2023 Warhammer Christmas Battleforce boxes: what’s included, confirmed prices (GBP/EUR/USD), and value savings breakdown for each set.
Every holiday season GW rolls out its Battleforce boxes, and for 2023 the Warhammer Christmas Holiday Battleforce boxes landed for both 40k and Age of Sigmar. This guide walks all ten, what’s inside each one, the confirmed prices, and the savings of every kit compared to the MSRP of box price.
For Warhammer 40,000, you can find options for the Leagues of Votann, Orks, Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Tyranids, and World Eaters. For Age of Sigmar, the lineup includes Seraphon, Ossiarch Bonereapers, Slaves to Darkness, and Soulblight Gravelords.
The savings math is the whole reason to care. So whether you’re starting one of these armies from scratch or topping up one you already play, we’ll show each box next to its total MSRP so the real savings, and the traps, are easy to spot.
2023 Pricing & Values

Before we get into each box, let’s start with the prices of the Warhammer 40k Christmas Holiday Battleforce boxes for 2023. In 2022, the boxes all went for $230, and while we’ve had some price increases this year, GW kept the price the same this time, which is just great! While the AoS boxes increased slightly, they only went up to $220.
Each box is priced at around $230 for 40k and $220 for AoS, but with some of these sets packing up to $355 worth of models, you’re looking at savings of up to $125.

In 2023, there are six Warhammer Christmas Holiday Battleforce box sets, which stayed the same from 2022. Here is the breakdown of which factions got box sets and their values!

Defenders of the Ancestors – Leagues of Votann Battleforce Box Set $230 €180 £140
The Leagues of Votann box, Defenders of the Ancestors, is built around holding a line and not giving it up. You get 10 Einhyr Hearthguard led by an Einhyr Champion, a Hekaton Land Fortress to haul them around, a Grimnyr for support, and a Sagitaur to run down anything that tries to flank you.
Honestly, the value here leans on three kits that are a pain to buy on their own. Sagitaurs have been hard to find, the Land Fortress is a workhorse, and Hearthguard are the unit most Votann lists want, so if you’re building the army this box does a lot of heavy lifting. The main thing to watch out for is duplicates: if you already own a Land Fortress or a box of Hearthguard, a good chunk of that saving disappears fast.

Beast Snagga Stampede – Orks Christmas Battleforce Box Set $230 €180 £140
The Orks box, Beast Snagga Stampede, is a cavalry brawl in a box. Mozrog Skragbad leads it, and he can also build as a plain Beastboss on Squigosaur if you’d rather. Around him you get three Squighog Boyz, a Nob on Smasha Squig, a Painboss, 10 Beast Snagga Boyz, and a Kill Rig that can go together as a Hunta Rig with a Wurrboy on foot instead.
So if you want a pile of Beast Snaggas in one go, new army or reinforcements, this is the easy pickup. Just watch the Kill Rig, since it’s the big-ticket kit here, and if you already own one the rest of the box has to carry the value on its own.

Cadian Defence Force – Imperial Guard (Astra Militarum) Christmas Battleforce Box Set $230 €180 £140
The Cadian Defence Force is the classic Guard picture, bodies and armor. You get 20 Cadian Shock Troops, a five-model Command Squad, and two Rogal Dorn battle tanks.
The whole case for this box is those two Rogal Dorns. If you’ve been meaning to switch to the new tanks, or you’re starting Guard and want some big center minis right away, two in one box is a strong deal. But two Dorns is a lot of tank for one army, so if you only need one, the leftover value drops and you’re really paying box price for infantry.

Spearhead Force Space Marines Christmas Battleforce Box Set: $230 €180 £140
The Space Marines box, Spearhead Force, is all about the new jump-pack stuff. You get 15 Jump Pack Intercessors, a Captain with a jump pack to lead them, three Outriders, and an Invader ATV for fire support that can actually keep pace.
This one lives and dies on whether you want a fast, jump-heavy Marine force. If that’s your playstyle, 15 Intercessors plus a Captain is a real head start. But it’s a narrow box, with no troops-and-transport backbone, and if you already own Outriders or an ATV you’ll be sitting on doubles. Great as a first punch for a mobile army, easy skip if you’re after an all-comers force.

Onslaught Swarm – Tyranids Christmas Battleforce Box Set Force $230 €180 £140
The Tyranids box, Onslaught Swarm, is led by a Norn Emissary and a Winged Hive Tyrant (which also builds as a ground Hive Tyrant or the Swarmlord), backed up by 20 Hormagaunts, 10 Genestealers, and a pair of Ripper Swarms.
A lot of this is leftovers, sort of, from the Leviathan box, so if you already cracked Leviathan open you’ve seen the gaunts and Genestealers before. But if you missed that starter, or you specifically want a Norn Emissary and a Winged Hive Tyrant without hunting them down one at a time, this is where the savings actually land.

Exalted of the Red Angel – World Eaters Christmas Battleforce Box Set Spearhead Force $230 €180 £140
The World Eaters box, Exalted of the Red Angel, is built around Angron, Daemon Primarch of Khorne, with 10 Khorne Berzerkers and six Exalted Eightbound (which also build as regular Eightbound) swinging in behind him.
Here’s the deciding question: do you already own Angron? If you do, this box is mostly a pass, because he’s the big-value centerpiece. If you don’t, it’s a strong way to start World Eaters, and pairing it with the Combat Patrol gets you to a real force in two purchases.

Age of Sigmar Christmas Holiday Battleforces
This time around, there will only be four Warhammer Christmas Holiday Battleforce boxes (there were seven last year), but not too long ago, we heard that we might not get any for AoS, so this is honestly great to see! Now, let’s jump into the boxes.

Primordial Starhost: Seraphon Battleforce: $220 €175 £135
The Seraphon box, Primordial Starhost, is led by a Slann Starmaster and mixes big and small: 10 Saurus Warriors, three Kroxigor (which also build as Kroxigor Warspawned), three Aggradon Lancers, and the Hunters of Huanchi chameleon skinks.
It’s a real starting core if you’re new to Seraphon, with a caster, a battleline block, and a couple of hard-hitting units in one go. If you already run lizards, the Aggradon Lancers and the Warcry skinks are the models least likely to be sitting in your case already, so weigh it on those.

Praetorian Spearhead – Ossiarch Bonereapers Battleforce: $220 €175 £135
The Ossiarch Bonereapers box, Praetorian Spearhead, is led by Arch-Kavalos Zandtos (or the standard Liege-Kavalos if you prefer) and fills out with five Kavalos Deathriders, 20 Mortek Guard, a Gothizzar Harvester, and four Morghast Archai that also build as Harbingers.
It’s the most rounded box in the AoS lineup, with a leader, a big infantry block, cavalry, and a monster all together, which is why it posts the highest value of the whole run on paper. The catch is those 20 Mortek Guard: if you’re already deep on battleline, that’s the chunk most likely to end up as spares.

Warhorde of Eternus – Slaves to Darkness Battleforce: $220 €175 £135
The Slaves to Darkness box, Warhorde of Eternus, is fronted by Eternus, Blade of the First Prince, with three Ogroid Theridons, five Chaos Knights, five Chaos Chosen, and 10 Chaos Warriors behind him.
The practical thing to know is that Eternus can also build as a Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount, so you’re getting a flexible hero on top of a solid mixed block of Chaos infantry and cavalry. Whether he ends up loyal to Archaon or Be’lakor is its own soap opera, and honestly we’ve lost track of who’s double-crossing who, but for army-building it’s a strong starting spread either way.

Vengorian Court – Soulblight Gravelords Battleforce: $220 €175 £135
The Soulblight Gravelords box, Vengorian Court, brings five Blood Knights, 20 Deathrattle Skeletons, 10 Dire Wolves, three Fell Bats, and a Vengorian Lord that also builds as Lauka Vai, Mother of Nightmares.
If you need the whole undead package at once, cavalry in the Blood Knights, chaff in the skeletons and wolves, and a monster hero on top, this covers all three slots. Where it gets skippable is if you already own a pile of Deathrattle Skeletons, since 20 more is a lot of rank-and-file you might not need.

Do These 2023 Warhammer Christmas Boxes Have Value?
So do these boxes have value? Almost all of them, but the honest answer depends on you, not the sticker. Every 40k box saves at least $100 over buying the kits one by one, and the AoS boxes run about $10 cheaper with a slightly smaller average saving. Three things decide whether that saving is real for you: how many of the models you’d actually field, whether you already own the big-ticket kit in the box, and whether your local store will stack a discount on top.
- Best value: the Ossiarch Bonereapers Praetorian Spearhead, at $165 off and the most rounded box across both games.
- Best starter: the Cadian Defence Force, since two Rogal Dorns hand a new Guard army a powerful core in one buy.
- Most niche: the Space Marines Spearhead Force, brilliant for a jump-pack army and a hard pass if that’s not your plan.
- Biggest duplicate risk: the Tyranids Onslaught Swarm, since a lot of it overlaps the Leviathan box you may already own.
There’s not a bad box in the lineup for the right buyer. On pure dollars saved the Bonereapers box wins, but if you just want the most fun per box, Orks are our pick, and the Tyranids and Space Marines boxes carry the most brand-new plastic. It’s also good to see GW spread the love across more factions than the 2022 run did.
