New Necromunda, Horus Heresy, & More: First Look
GW redid the rulebook for Necromunda and didn’t follow up with much, so it’s nice to see more significant releases on the way now!
Necromunda: The Aranthian Succession – Ruins of Jardlan
The concluding volume of the Aranthian Succession is unmissable for every Necromunda fan; it has 45 pages of incredible background lore developing the setting-changing storyline, and introducing new characters such as Asun’ghar – also known as the Lady of Ash – Orrin Grimjarl, the Last Charter Lord of Jardlan, and his brother Urson Grimjarl, the Jardlan Nomad Hunter, as well as Silberlant Sevos, the Infotek.
Then there’s part three of the Succession campaign, entitled “the Fall of Helmawr”, which follows the forces of Ozostium and the Prophet of Redemption as they hound Lady Haera and her loyal Enforcers. Gangs battle for the control of key waypoints throughout the ash wastes to ambush the fleeing Helmawr, or aid her escape. On top of that there are additional rules for Van Saar, Enforcers, and Ironhead Squat Prospectors, including new vehicles for each.
This volume will be available in hardback and as an ePub.
New supplements bring new ways to play, which is always refreshing. Plus, with new lore, there is a lot to look forward to if you are a fan.
Van Saar Ash Wastes Arachni-rig
A wasteland variant of the Van Saar Arachni-rig, the Ash Wastes Arachni-rig combines high-speed brutality with an array of deadly weapons. It is fitted with jump boosters to effortlessly traverse Necromunda’s rad-soaked plains, and packs a myriad of weapons ranging from destructive plasma guns that melt through infantry or harpoon launchers to better snag loot in the ash wastes, meaning it’s prepared for any foe.
These are really cool-looking, and with them in plastic, what’s not to love? Plus, even if you don’t play Necromunda, these could be used for all kinds of conversions. We would just recommend trying to magnetize those flight stands, as they could be a pain to store.
They have a decent number of options and should add some serious speed to your gang.
Van Saar Gang Tactics Card Pack and Van Saar Vehicle Gang Tactics Pack (Direct From GW Webstore)
This pair of card packs allows you to command your House Van Saar gangers in the heat of battle. The Gang Tactics pack is a reprint of the second Van Saar Tactics Card Pack, and includes 26 cards with additional tactics and abilities, as well as blank cards you can use to record important statistics. The Vehicle Tactics pack features 26 new cards (including blank vehicle cards) and allows your gangs to utilise various vehicles for use in the underhive and ash wastes.
Tactic cards are pretty convenient, especially when picking up on new rules to smooth out the learning curve.
Underhive Graffiti Transfer Sheet (Direct From GW Webstore)
Add some gritty realism to your Necromunda terrain collection with this sheet of 292 waterslide transfers, including hazard stripes, graffiti icons for each of the House gangs, Enforcer tags, as well as industrial signage, sector codes, ‘motivational’ slogans, arrows, hazard warnings, voltage symbols, and a host of other decals to personalise your collection.
New transfers equal new hobby options, which is always a good thing if you’re into that and want some extra customization.
Mind-Locked Wyrd and Cephalopod Spektors
Cast in Forge World resin, Mind-locked Wyrds are unsanctioned psykers who have been broken to the will of the Psi-Syndica and its shadowy allies. House Delaque are particularly favoured partners of this psychic cartel, and employ Mind-locked Wyrds alongside their engineered creations – such as the Cephalopod Spektors, cybernetic watchdogs built around fragment-brains cloned from their bonded master.
This wyrd is pretty unique, making for a great new hobby option and probably a solid model to field in Necromunda.
Van Saar Ash Wastes Upgrades
Kit your high-tech House Van Saar members with all the gear needed to slightly improve their chances in the ash wastes of Necromunda. This Forge World Resin upgrade kit contains 30 components such as backpacks, heads, and flasks to make your gangers more in-theme and appropriately dressed when fighting in the ash wastes.
Make your models more unique (and possibly more accurate) with these simple bit swaps.
Traitor Champion Consul (Delayed)
Even the traitorous dogs of the 31st Millennium still have their pride, and the Traitor Champion Consuls are chosen from the best blades in their ranks. This ferocious duellist is made of Forge World resin, and wears augmented MKIII artificer armour. He wields a paragon blade and a volkite serpenta, and has a choice of two heads – helmed or bare. He can be used by any of the Traitor Legions as a close-combat character-killer.
It looks like two more weeks until you can order the Consul, which was announced one day before the pre-order period was supposed to begin. While this is just a single model, it still feels bad after a long string of issues with shipping, and allocations galore.
With a pretty dope mini, this is an easy pick-up for any traitor-legion player in Horus Heresy.
