New 40k Primarch Models Releasing For 11th Edition: Rumors

More Primarch rumors for 11th edition 40k and Horus Heresy say new model kits for Dorn, Vulkan, and Guilliman, among others may be on the way soon.

The warp is swirling with talk of new kits, and this time the rumors aren’t just about tweaks. If these are proven true, Games Workshop is lining up a massive push into plastic models for both Horus Heresy and Warhammer 40k.

Let’s break down the latest on what may be on the way for Warhammer 40k, according to collaborative leaks over the last few months and from Valrak and and others.

New Horus Heresy Primarch Models Going to Plastic

Updated April 8, 2026, by Rob Baer with the latest.

TL;DR
  • Plastic Primarch era might be incoming: rumors say resin Heresy Primarchs are on the way out, with Angron Transfigured possibly among the last before GW shifts future big names to plastic.
  • Three loyalists headline the leak pile: Rogal Dorn (Siege of Terra vibe, rumored power sword or chainsword options), Vulkan (Salamanders Forge-Lord finally in plastic), and Roboute Guilliman (now sounding more like 30k, not just 40k).
  • Perturabo is on the way. For the Chaos side of things, rumors are again pointing towards Perturabo.
  • Guilliman replacement talk won’t quit: rumors claim the current 40k Guilliman kit could be getting pulled or deprioritized, which usually means a new box is waiting in the wings.
  • Tenth is winding down, eleventh is on the horizon: Fulgrim and the Emperor’s Children could be the big chaos spark, and for a loyalist Primarch return as the likely clapback heading toward summer 2026.
  • Hobby win if it’s real: plastic Primarchs means easier builds, fewer warps, more conversions, and GW treating Horus Heresy like a full plastic heavyweight, not a resin side quest.

For years, Heresy players have had to wrestle with resin Primarchs from Froge World, sometimes literally, when their parts warped. That era may be closing. The current word is that Angron Transfigured will be one of the last resin Primarchs, with all future characters moving to plastic.

It’s a huge shift that could make these iconic figures easier to build, more durable, and more widely available.

Rogal Dorn

  • Rogal Dorn: A new plastic Dorn kit is rumored again, themed for the Siege of Terra. Whispers point to two loadouts: a massive power sword or a brutal chainsword. Whether it’s a single kit or separate versions isn’t clear, but either way it’s a big moment for Imperial Fists players.
  • Vulkan: Salamanders fans may finally get their Forge-Lord in plastic. With the new edition revisiting Isstvan and the Salamanders taking center stage on the box art, this rumor carries weight. No confirmation on a new pose, but even a straight material upgrade would be huge.
  • Roboute Guilliman: Early rumors suggested a new Guilliman for 40k, but now these updated rumors place him in 30k instead. A plastic version for Horus Heresy fits the current refresh strategy and would round out the loyalist line nicely.

The Primarch Rumor Machine Is Spinning Up for 11th Edition 40k

The new big rumor is that 11th edition could have multiple Primarchs on the way. But, before anybody starts clearing shelf space for giant centerpiece kits, keep in mind this is still rumor territory.

But… all these rumors stem from alleged internal rules discussions in GW’s new tournament organizers Discord server, where invited participants supposedly were asking GW staff about upcoming changes. This is also where we got the recent terrain rules leaks, so these look pretty legit, as far as rumors go…

Supposedly, in that Discord, somebody asked about Primarchs returning in 11th edition, and the answer was more Primarchs, plural. GW has already shown it likes to push the setting forward with bigger-named characters, major narrative changes, and faction-defining centerpieces that can dominate both the table and the marketing cycle.

More Primarchs would fit that pattern perfectly.

PErturabo ArtworkIf there’s one name at the center of this rumor pile, it’s Perturabo. He feels like the strongest Chaos candidate because he doesn’t need much narrative stretching to work. With all the recent Iron Warriors drops and the recent artwork about his new size, this feels almost too easy for GW.

So, if they want 11th edition to have a Daemon Primarch return with real weight behind it, Perturabo makes a lot of sense. He’s bitter, brutal, and tailor-made for the sort of large-scale war narrative.

Lorgar AurelianLorgar is the other Chaos name getting real traction, and that’s not hard to see either. Between hints tied to Word Bearers-flavored extras in newer kits and the fact that the current Chaos storyline already feels like fertile ground for religious madness and apocalyptic preaching, he’d slot in cleanly. Perturabo would bring the siege engine energy, and Lorgar would bring the cult-leader nightmare fuel.

Neither one feels out of place honestly…

Of course, if GW starts handing Chaos more Primarch-level toys, most players expect the loyalists to get something back on the other side. Rogal Dorn would be the obvious mirror for Perturabo, but GW rarely seems interested in making the most literal pairing possible.

That’s why names like Vulkan, Jaghatai Khan, Leman Russ, or Corax keep coming up instead.

Vulkan Primarch of salamanders 40k standing with hammer with legionaires behind space marines no textVulkan may be the most convincing loyalist theory in the bunch. With the story moving back to Armageddon, and him being effectively unkillable in the lore, it doesn’t exactly hurt his chances. Jaghatai Khan also feels plausible, especially if rumors about stories involving Commorragh and the Webway turn out to be worth anything. That’s been his missing-person persona for ages, so it wouldn’t come out of nowhere.

If you ask us, if any Primarchs are coming back in 11th edition, a Daemon Primarch feels like the strongest bet, and Perturabo looks like the name with the most smoke around it. Whether that turns into a full-on wave of returns or just one big narrative bombshell is where the guessing starts.

New Guilliman Model Rumors Are Heating Up

Guilliman rumors have out there for months, but lately they have started sounding like the kind of “oops, we said the quiet part out loud” whisper that usually pops up right before a model gets swapped on the shelf.

The basic story has zig-zagged all over the place: first, it was a brand new Roboute Guilliman for Horus Heresy, which would track if GW wants to do Primarch variants in 30k.

Then the rumors pivoted to “nope, it’s for 40k,” and then it morphed again into the classic double scoop: apparently, it could be for both games. That kind of muddy signal is usually a sign that multiple sources are catching fragments of the same thing, not necessarily that someone is inventing two Guillimans out of thin air.

Roboute GuillimanThe intestesting part, though, is the claim that GW stores have been told to send back or stop fulfilling orders for the current 40k Guilliman kit, the one that’s been around since 8th edition. If that is even half true, it screams replacement. Companies don’t yank a marquee character off the peg because they feel nostalgic.

They do it because they do not want you to buy the old box when the new one is already on the way, as these comments on GW’s Facebook from the Huron reveal at Christmas 2025 seem to indicate.

gw being coy about a new primarch modelAnd while his new mini didn’t line up with the AdeptiCon announcements, it gets even juicier (not to mention GW all but saying it on their socials). A new edition is exactly the sort of stage where GW would roll out a refreshed Lord Commander of the Imperium, especially when newer Primarch sculpts have raised the bar.

Add in the lore wiggle room around Guilliman’s armor, and you have an easy excuse for a sharper, updated “current era” Guilliman that looks like he actually belongs at the top of the faction again.

A New Primarch: How will 10th Edition 40k End (Rumors)

Games Workshop (GW) has established a recognizable release pattern over recent years. This three-year cycle tends to see major narrative arcs unfolding across new editions, similar to how previous campaigns like Psychic Awakening and Arks of Omen unfolded in 8th and 9th editions, respectively.

With the 10th Edition currently at its effective codex end, we can probably expect more significant events before the inevitable transition to 11th Edition in 2026. Basically, every year in the three-year cycle, they release a major game or hobby product. This year, we’re being hit with a return to Armageddon, but that doesn’t rule out a very late Primarch reveal.

Emperor’s Children Happened in 2025

fulgrim slaanesh wal horThe first major event of 2025 is the return of the Emperor’s Children, one of the Traitor Legions led by the infamous Fulgrim, a Daemon Primarch. This mirrors how the World Eaters and their Daemon Primarch Angron were introduced towards the end of 9th Edition. The parallels are striking: a long-awaited Traitor Legion returns with a major character, setting the stage for significant conflict within the Imperium.

The question is whether the return of Fulgrim will be an event that shakes the galaxy, forcing the Imperium to respond with full force?

A New Loyalist Primarch’s Return?

Forge World Horus Heresy Primarch

If the Emperor’s Children and Fulgrim’s return does spark chaos, then the response from the Imperium could come in the form of a long-awaited loyalist Primarch. That could mirror what we saw with Lion El Johnson at the end of 10th. Leaks and speculation point towards the return of either Leman Russ or Rogal Dorn.

Both Primarchs have been missing for millennia, but recent hints in the lore have suggested that their return could be imminent.

Russ, the Primarch of the Space Wolves (here are the rumors for his return), famously left the Imperium, claiming he would return during the galaxy’s darkest hour. Rogal Dorn, known for his staunch defense of Terra, disappeared after the Horus Heresy.

His fate remains shrouded in mystery, but the return of either of these iconic figures would be a monumental event for the Imperium. The returning loyalist Primarch would likely face Fulgrim in a narrative climax, much like the showdown between Lion El’Jonson and Angron in the Arks of Omen campaign.

More Primarchs Other Than Russ on the Horizon? Maybe…

Before bringing back a heavy hitter like Leman Russ, the smart money’s on one of the “background” Primarchs making a comeback. We’re talking Vulkan, Jaghatai Khan, or Corvus Corax, all of whom have story hooks wide open for a return.

Jaghatai KhanVulkan’s a solid bet, since as a Perpetual, he literally can’t die. Khan is in the Warp somewhere, possibly still fighting the Drukhari, and if they get a big refresh, it would make sense for the Khan to come rolling back in. Corax is hunting Lorgar in the Warp, so why couldn’t he pop back up and steal the spotlight for a little?

What we have seen, though, is a shiny new Logan Grimnar model so massive it could make a Primarch jealous, and that might actually explain some of the confusion. Leakers catch a glimpse of a hulking Space Wolf with flowing hair and assume it’s Russ himself.

Not everyone clocking these things knows their lore well enough to tell the difference between the Chapter Master and the Wolf King.

VulkanOn top of that, some of these so-called “Primarch leaks” might not even be for Warhammer 40k at all. There’s a good chance a few of these plastic legends belong to Horus Heresy, where Forge World’s resin heroes may slowly be getting swapped for plastic glory.

Games Workshop knows those big characters sell like hotcakes in both systems, so whether it’s a 40k reveal or a Heresy drop, it’s all the same kind of plastic crack to them.

Setting the Stage for 11th Edition?

warhammer 11th edition 40k

GW has confirmed the box and is launching 11th Edition Warhammer 40k in the summer of 2026. If they did release an early summer Primarch, this transition would follow their established pattern of moving the narrative forward with new rulesets and campaigns to accommodate the galaxy-shaking consequences of the return of these Primarchs.

Final Thoughts on the latest new 40k Primarch Rumors

A picture of the painted Angron Transfigured closeup

The final days of 10th Edition promise to be full of dramatic confrontations, monumental character returns, and significant lore developments. The battle between loyalist and traitor Primarchs will undoubtedly reshape the future of the Warhammer 40k universe, leading directly into (or during) the next edition with more expansive lore and gameplay opportunities.

That being said, moving primarchs to plastic could inject real momentum into both Warhammer 40k and Horus Heresy at the same time too.

For Games Workshop, this could be a clear push to grow the Horus Heresy into a true plastic powerhouse. While for hobbyists, this means easier builds, more conversions, and a fresh reason to expand those display shelves.
