New Warhammer 40k rumors point to a Space Marines digital supplement, and GW may have already told us it was coming.
This one barely feels like a rumor after GW’s Legion of the Damned Q&A. But now First Founding chapters are supposedly getting their own digital codex supplements, all tied to the new Space Marine codex, rather than a full printed book for each chapter.
So if you’ve got Iron Hands sitting on the shelf and you’re waiting for GW to give them some attention, this might be how it happens.
GW Co-Signed Most of This Rumor Already
- What’s happening: Rumors say First Founding chapters will get their own digital codex supplements for 11th Edition, tied to the new Space Marine codex instead of full printed books.
- What we have seen so far: GW talked up digital supplemental content in the Legion of the Damned Q&A, has already talked about updating codex content in the 40k app, and recent app updates show entries labeled “Codex Supplement.”
- What’s next: Raven Guard are rumored to go first, with White Scars supposedly behind them, which would give us a rough map of how the rest of the chapters roll out.
GW has already said that digital supplemental content is planned for Space Marines. It’s also talked about putting updated codex content straight into the 40k app.
That gives GW somewhere to put these rules and a way to update them. A digital Marine supplement would use the delivery system that has been built for 11th, so there’s no need to invent a whole new product line to make this rumor work.
The App is Quietly Making Room for Codex Supplements

The label fits the rumor, sure, but it doesn’t tell you which chapter is getting a supplement, what’s in it, or when you can use it. Still, now that GW has made the app worth using, we should see these supplements turn up first.
These Sound Like Legion of the Damned for Every Chapter

Raven Guard are supposedly up first, with the White Scars next. After that, it’s pretty much anybody’s guess.
But that being said, the main Space Marine codex already has plenty of chapter detachments, so these other rule sets wouldn’t have to start from scratch. So if they give each chapter more of its own lore and rules, players will have something useful without another five hardbacks to buy.
Digital Rules Hit Harder With New Plastic

There’s plenty we’d happily add to the “Want-list”. Breachers for chapters that like kicking down doors, flamer specialists, Phobos-focused units for the Raven Guard crowd, or other chapter-specific squads would all fit.
Then there’s Tu’Shan, probably one of the Salamanders community’s longest-running requests. Pedro Kantor could really use some attention, too. And how about Gabriel Seth? Players are still waiting to see him come back or get an update.
Put even one of those alongside a digital supplement and hobbyists are sure to buy it.
Final Thoughts on the Space Marines Digital Supplement
If these supplements happen, we’d want to see what they add beyond the chapter detachments already in the codex. More lore and rules could be useful, but it’s hard not to start thinking about new squads and those characters people keep asking for.
Would you be happy with more lore and rules for your chapter, or are you holding out for new models too?
