About Rob Baer: Founder, Publisher, & Managing Editor of Spikey Bits, the leading tabletop gaming news website focused on the hobby side of wargaming and miniatures.
Rob also co-founded and is a panelist on the weekly Long War Podcast, which has over 500 episodes and focuses on tabletop miniatures gaming, specializing in Warhammer 40k, and spent six years writing for Bell of Lost Souls.
Every year, he and his co-hosts help host the Long War 40k Doubles Tournament at Adepticon and the Long War 40k Doubles at the Las Vegas Open, both of which attract thousands of players from around the world.
Rob has also won many Warhammer 40k Tournaments over the years, including multiple first-place finishes in Warhammer 40k Grand Tournaments and even winning 1st place at the 2011 Adepticon 40k Team Tournament. He was even featured for his painting in issue #304 of Games Workshop’s White Dwarf Magazine.
With over 30 years of experience in retail and distribution, Rob knows all the products and exactly which ones are the best. As a member of GAMA (Game Manufacturers Association), he advocates for gaming stores and manufacturers in these difficult times. He also advises major hedge funds on stocks like Games Workshop and Asmodee.
He is always looking for the next big thing to feature for the miniatures hobby, helping everyone provide the value consumers want.
While he’s played every edition of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy (since 5th Edition) and has been hobbying on miniatures since the 1980s, Titans of all sizes will always be his favorite! It’s even rumored that his hobby vault rivals the Solemnance Galleries, containing rulebooks filled with lore from editions long past, ancient packs of black-bordered Magic Cards, and models made of both pewter and resin.

Read MoreMBG here with a possibly blasphemous question; why take a Librarian in a Grey Knight army? Sure, sure, the benefits are obvious; extra cover saves with Shrouding, extra Hammerhands, Armor Penetration from Might of Titans, and fun with Sanctuary, etc. just to name a few. But seriously though, is it worth taking a Librarian? I’m starting to say nay my friends […]
Read MoreWell believe it or not ‘Ard Boyz prelims are almost here, and all the boys and girls are getting ready for battle! The thing I’ve come to love about this event, is the complete shift in meta away from any standard tournament circuit type series. At ‘Ard Boyz you’ll see the most random lists in addition to a […]

I’ve had these converted Terminators for a few years now, and just got around to augmenting them with newer bits and such for my Iron Hands Army. Originally I wanted them to be all sweet Pre-Heresy style, but eventually I just settled on […]

Unfortunately the only way to actually get one is the Land Raider Crusader / Redeemer kit for $66, a price which has made the turret go for […]

As it turns out I have a bunch of models, an embarrassing large amount actually, so many in fact that I […]
Read MoreI remember the dark skies, the smell of brimstone and death hanging high almost as if to linger in the air. The year was 2003, the Chaos Space Marines were on the warpath, and it was good to be bad. Nowadays while the skies have cooled with the times (and their abomination of a “5th […]

Read MoreI have to admit, the one thing hobby related that I have always shied away from was doing snow on bases. No clue why…. I can pin, sculpt, build stuff from scratch etc, but I always run screaming when it comes to doing snow. Why? I have no clue. I suppose it has to do with messing up and ruining a […]

Read MoreThis is the first of many variants for the Stormraven Gunship I could come up with. It is loosely based of off the Terminus Ultra Land Raider, except it’s got wings! The premise behind the vehicle is basic search and destroy operations, where terrain/ conditions are not conductive to deployment of troops or heavy tanks. […]

Maybe I was just preoccupied with things around the shop, or just tired from the night before- either way I still managed to screw it up a bit. Regardless this kit is pretty cutting edge and it’s a blast to assemble. First off, when […]
