So I’ve been saving this bit of coverage from Feast of Blades for last (but certainly not least). You see, there was no painting award on the Feast of Blades Invitational side. Instead there was players choice, and it went to Mike Haspil for his amazing Knights of Titan army. Mike had been working hard on this […]

About Rob Baer: Founder, Publisher, & Managing Editor of Spikey Bits, the leading tabletop gaming news website focused on the hobby side of wargaming and miniatures.
Rob also co-founded and is a panelist on the weekly Long War Podcast, which has over 500 episodes and focuses on tabletop miniatures gaming, specializing in Warhammer 40k, and spent six years writing for Bell of Lost Souls.
Every year, he and his co-hosts help host the Long War 40k Doubles Tournament at Adepticon and the Long War 40k Doubles at the Las Vegas Open, both of which attract thousands of players from around the world.
Rob has also won many Warhammer 40k Tournaments over the years, including multiple first-place finishes in Warhammer 40k Grand Tournaments and even winning 1st place at the 2011 Adepticon 40k Team Tournament. He was even featured for his painting in issue #304 of Games Workshop’s White Dwarf Magazine.
With over 30 years of experience in retail and distribution, Rob knows all the products and exactly which ones are the best. As a member of GAMA (Game Manufacturers Association), he advocates for gaming stores and manufacturers in these difficult times. He also advises major hedge funds on stocks like Games Workshop and Asmodee.
He is always looking for the next big thing to feature for the miniatures hobby, helping everyone provide the value consumers want.
While he’s played every edition of Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy (since 5th Edition) and has been hobbying on miniatures since the 1980s, Titans of all sizes will always be his favorite! It’s even rumored that his hobby vault rivals the Solemnance Galleries, containing rulebooks filled with lore from editions long past, ancient packs of black-bordered Magic Cards, and models made of both pewter and resin.
So Jkin started up a Space Marines Scout recon army for our 500 point Flash League at the shop. One of the centerpieces of the army is this scout insertion speeder, a’la Black Hawk down. He converted this vehicle up to represent the it’s ability to transport scouts into position, and have something characterful in […]

Read MoreAround the shop were starting up a little escalation league of sorts, themed around what else but the NECRONS. (good timing eh?) I thought I’d get on here and post up how we’re running it, so maybe the fever will spread, and inspire other clubs or stores to run their own flash leagues as well.So here’s how it works…. […]
Read MoreWelcome to a guest post by TerranRaida. I asked him to do little how to article on his painted Shadewarith, and as you’ll read he begrudgingly obliged me due to mostly to bribes. You can catch up with this Master of the English Language over on his blog C.R.E.A.M (Change Rules Everything Around Me). So MBG asked me to write an article as […]
Read MoreCheck out this amazing Siege of Terra Mega-Diorama from Adepticon 2011. What ever club was responsible for building, heck even taking on such an ambitious project should pat themselves on the back, as this rocks. This board definitely ranks up there with some of the most spectacular hobby displays I have ever seen. Let’s take a closer look, as I attempt to […]
Read MoreAround the shop, it always seem to come up about which primer I use, and why. So today I figured I’d talk about it a bit, and see what you all think. First off I just want to say never ever use that crap from Wal Mart.Krylon is okay sometimes but that is about it. […]
Read MoreWell it’s Halloween so I wanted to show off this spooky crazy Steam Punk Transport. YepImadork made this to carry around Ramos and his crew for games of Malifaux, and it’s a pretty sweet conversion! Jump below for a closer look. The conversion itself is pretty basic, but it’s just done and themed very well, […]
Read MoreAs I write this parts are drying to feverishly made repairs to my Stormtrooper armor. You see I was a big dummy, and left the armor in the store window for the summer, and well it took some direct hits from UV. Apparently its pretty hard to get out UV damage from molded PVC plastic, so […]
Read MoreMy buddy Beef (hold the cheddar) stopped by the other day with a new WIP, a Ravenguard Dakka Dreadnought. He converted this puppy up good, with a bunch of solid true scale aspects, heck you can’t even tell those are sentinel legs till you see it from behind. The model kinda almost reminds me of […]
Read MoreA little while ago I did a tutorial on my Pre-Heresy Iron Fists Army, but I left one model out- my Librarian. Today we’re going to take a look how I made him, and how you can make your own (as there is no model for the Power Armor Librarian right now- sad pandas) Back in the […]
