Rumors suggest Legions Imperialis will see new tanks, a powerful Knight, and Mk III armor soon, could Molech be the next big campaign?
Legions Imperialis might be marching on Molech, and if the rumors hold up, the shopping list is a big one: superheavy tanks, a brand-new Vindicator, plastic Space Marine infantry in Mark III plate, and a fresh Imperial Knight that supposedly isn’t an Armiger. That’s a lot of plastic pointed at one campaign.
Before anyone empties the hobby wallet, one hedge. This all traces back to the latest rumors reposted “anonymously” from /TG, so treat it as tinfoil-hat territory until GW puts it on Warhammer Community.
Molech matters because it wasn’t just another warzone. It was a key stop on Horus’ warpath toward Terra, which makes it a natural backdrop for a big expansion. The rumored focus is Ultramarines against the Sons of Horus, a little odd for a planet best known for its Knight households, but Games Workshop has always picked releases on popularity as much as lore, so a crowd-pleaser matchup over strict accuracy tracks.
The one faction we keep squinting for is Solar Auxilia, and leaving them off Molech would be strange, but that’s a fight for later in the list.
Superheavies on the Horizon
Updated on August 5, 2026, by Rob Baer with a tighter breakdown of the Legions Imperialis rumors and clearer release watch-items.
One of the biggest holes in Legions Imperialis has been the lack of superheavy tanks, and the rumors point right at that gap. The Fellblade, Falchion, and Glaive are all being floated, which makes sense given how badly the system wants proper heavy armor. On the table that’s a real shift: a Fellblade or Glaive gives you a mobile gun platform that can trade with enemy armor and crack fortified positions, the kind of long-range threat infantry-heavy lists currently have to play around. Whether all three land at once or GW leads with one, heavier metal is on the way.
There’s also talk of Mechanicum rolling in with bigger units and super weapons, though nothing’s pinned down yet. File that one under wish listing: keep an eye on whether it shows up as plastic or resin, and whether it’s a full release or a single centerpiece, because that tells you how hard GW is actually backing the faction at this scale.
The Return of the Vindicator
The superheavies grab the headlines, but a new Vindicator might be the release that actually changes how games play out. Right now garrisoned buildings are brutal to shift, and infantry can sit in a ruin and dare you to come dig them out.
Drop a Vindicator’s siege gun into that spot and the math flips: you’ve got a dedicated building-cracker that turns holding a garrison into a real risk instead of a free save. Plus that blunt wedge silhouette is a nostalgia hit for anyone who’s run one in bigger-scale 40k or HH.
New Infantry Options – A Welcome Shake-Up
Space Marines are rumored to be getting new infantry kits packing Mark III armor, meltas, and lascannons, and that matters more than any shiny centerpiece. Meltas and lascannons mean you can finally build dedicated anti-tank bases instead of kitbashing them together. Mark III plate reads as legion-agnostic, so one box paints up for whichever Legion you’re running without waiting on a faction-specific release. And if the kits stay neutral, growing an army gets cheaper and faster, since you’re not buying a fresh sculpt every time GW rotates factions.
GW will probably still tuck a couple of legion-specific units or characters into the expansion, and that’s the trade-off worth watching: the neutral kits keep collecting cheap, while the character sculpts are what keep your force feeling like your Legion instead of everyone else’s.
A New Knight Variant?
The rumor we’re most curious about is a new Imperial Knight, supposedly not an Armiger but something else in plastic. Without a picture it’s guesswork, but a few shapes make sense. It could be a questoris-class chassis, which would hand Knight-house players a proper heavy centerpiece to build a list around.
It might be a variant that fills a role the current plastic range skips, like a dedicated long-range or anti-infantry walker, which would change how you balance a household. Or it slots in cheaper as a support option, letting collectors field more bodies without blowing the points. Any of the three gives Knight armies a new toy, and that’s the part collectors will care about.
But What About the Solar Auxilia?

That said, it’s entirely possible that these early leaks are only part of the picture, and more announcements could be on the way. If nothing else, the demand for Solar Auxilia models is strong enough that leaving them out entirely would be a missed opportunity.
Final Thoughts on the Rumors
So what turns this from rumor into reality? Watch for an official GW or WarCom announcement first, because until that lands this is all still tinfoil-hat stuff. After that, the tells to track are the product types, meaning whether the superheavies and the new Knight show up in plastic or resin and at what cadence, and the factions in the box, specifically whether Solar Auxilia get a seat or get left on the bench.
Get plastic superheavies, a non-Armiger Knight, and a Solar Auxilia showing, and Molech turns into one of the meatier Legions Imperialis drops in a while. Honestly, if even half of this pans out, there’s plenty here worth clearing space on the build pile for.
