The 2025 AdeptiCon Event had players from all over the country stop in and show off their most beautifully painted armies. On the Doubles side, they put in a ton of work and made some awesome armies for the Long War Doubles 40k tournament!

Harlequins in Pink and Black? Absolute Showstoppers
This Harlequins army didn’t just enter the battlefield—it blasted onto it in bold pink and black. With transports zipping around like caffeinated nightmares, every model popped thanks to high-contrast color blocking and clean edge highlights.
If you’re thinking of tackling a bright scheme, let this be your blueprint: keep the base work simple and let the color do the talking. Bonus points if your bases don’t try to compete with the neon.
Space Wolves vs. Huron Blackheart: The Saga of the Wolfslayer
Red and blue never looked so epic. This massive three-story display board told a full-blown saga—Space Wolves clashing with Huron Blackheart’s Red Corsairs in a face-off for the ages. Painting opposing forces for the same display?
Lean into visual contrast and thematic terrain. The cohesion of chaos vs. order, icy vs. infernal, really makes both armies stand out without stepping on each other’s toes.
Necrons March Out of a Glowing Tomb World
Classic silver and green never goes out of style, and this Necrons army brought it back with a vengeance. The tomb world display board gave everything a cinematic touch, while subtle OSL effects and clever basing made the whole army feel alive—well, as alive as reanimated robot skeletons get. Want your Necrons to feel ancient and deadly? Keep the metals dark and let the green glow steal the spotlight.
AdMech vs. Necrons: Contrast, Chaos, and Carnage
This board brought the perfect head-to-head. AdMech storming a Necron homeworld? Yes, please. The red of Mars-tech clashing with the sickly green and silver of the Necrons made the entire board look like a John Blanche painting. Pairing opposing factions on the same display? Keep terrain unified but let your color choices do the narrative work. That balance is where the magic happens.
Tyranids Hanging Out in a Towering Computer Setup
This year at the Long War Doubles tournament, a Tyranid force took over a hollowed-out monitor, complete with a tower and keyboard—yes, really. It was equal parts creepy and brilliant. Want to build a display board that turns heads? Think outside the foam board.
Repurpose old tech, junkyard finds, or whatever works. The more unexpected, the better. And bonus points if your Nids look like they’re nesting in your old Windows XP tower.
Votann Dig in on a Perfect Mining Outpost
The Leagues of Votann rolled onto a board that screamed “defend the dig site!” This mining-themed display was packed with personality, rugged terrain, and enough detail to tell a full story. When building a narrative army, don’t just focus on the minis—give them a setting. Cracked earth, mining gear, hazard stripes… the little touches sell the scene. Bonus: great way to make short-legged space dwarves feel like the real powerhouses they are.
Blood Angels Bring the Skulls, Banners, and Gothic Drama
If vampires ran a military parade, it’d look like this Blood Angels army. Their display board had towering gothic ruins, endless skulls, and a massive banner that screamed gothic flair. The key to a Blood Angels army that turns heads? Deep reds, controlled weathering, and dramatic lighting effects. Also, go big on iconography—there’s no such thing as subtle when it comes to Sanguinius’ favorite sons.
